UK Politics Thread (Part 2)

Johnson has his list of people yet to recieve honours, if there are loads of standing conservative MPs on them we could see a significant number of by-elections!

I haven’t seen this verified anywhere yet though

You’ll be hearing from my IP solicitor on Monday.

Only 1 person that can make the UK great again…

Never underestimate the capacity an electorate, and the press, have for their lack of political memory. W Bush left the white house with historically low ratings, the world in economic collapse because of the natural consequences of his economic philosophy (if it makes money in the short term it is good and should not be challenged), and facing possible war crimes charges. A year into the Trump presidency there was a resurrections of his reputation and his approval ratings somehow had returned to historical norms. Last week a I read a piece by a supposedly serious opinion writer claiming that if we ignore Afghanistan and Iraq, Bush’s foreign policy record was quite a success. Is it possible to write a more “other than that, how did you enjoy the play, Mrs Lincoln” type line?

This was the argument Republicans used for not convicting Trump on the first impeachment trial (the ukraine extortion one). The house hearing and senate trial put the information out there, and as it was a political mater it should be left to the voters. If they elect him in the upcoming election they will have done so with full knowledge of the actions he was accused of. Of course this is bollocks, because anyone even partly inclined to vote for him took his lack of conviction as a mark of him not having done anything wrong.

The gall is breathtaking.

She has just been humilated like no-one else in British political history. She stood there like a lobotomised ventriloquist dummy whilst resigning, having only been trusted to talk for 30 secs in case she had another cheese moment.

She is, forever more, a pub quiz question.

Why on fucking earth would you not try and sprinkle just a pinch of glitter on the unmitigated turd that was your premiership by saying, nah…not gonna do that?

FMD

She honestly believes she was right and just the unfortunate victim of global circumstances, doesn’t she??

Johnson still only on 36 endorsements, has he run out of steam already or has this not been updated with the latest announcements?

‘Penny has the right experience. She has been in 8 different departments in 12 years.’

I know this is politics, but jeepers…if you were hiring someone I am not sure this would be the best selling point…

It has been 26 hours and I am well sick of the words ‘stability’ and ‘unity’.

Some may be keeping their powder dry, waiting to see if he’s serious enough to return from his holiday.

If it wasn’t so serious, I’d love it if he came back just to be kicked out by Christmas.

I’d be pissing myself if it were Utd bringing Ole back, only to sack him at Xmas.

But sadly this is a little bit more serious than being able to laugh at the mancs
