UK Politics Thread (Part 2)

Tufton St strikes again. Both were members of certain right wing think tanks from memory.

Ok let’s fall for the tory crap once again. There’s nothing to see anyway so let’s dig over the past and forget who’s in charge, NOW.
… and they say it’s Truss who lacks intelligence.
Soon we’ll all be back to bacon sandwiches and how someone ate one. Back to normal and convienient to forget what’s actually going on!

On that very subject (more or less) …

Not sure if this has been posted (or if it belong here) - was a really frightening, if odd, incident.

The only way I can understand the constant Tory obsession with “waste” of public money is because they’re experts at doing that.

And this was the supposed competent choice?

Compared to the others competing for the leadership bid, yes :see_no_evil:

I don’t know how much of this is down to his own beliefs and how much is down to him following the wishes of others in the party.

Yes, but they waste it on private businesses and not on poor people trying to scrape an existence.

Part of me does wonder whether the PM was aware of any of this and appointed her so that she took responsibility for it, and from a party collective point of view he could be seen as honouring deals with those from other factions who supported him. If she steps down this week the whole sage may be forgotten by next year if he appoints his own supporter to the job.

He has to be weakened by it though , surely ? So much for restoring integrity and competence to the heart of govt.

I don’t know. It depends what he follows up with. I doubt my thoughts above are anywhere close to being true. Most likely he put her in the role as he was desparate to become PM. This and the whole saga along on attending the environmental meeting doesn’t look good, but how serious do those likely to vote for him consider this?

The slides on the economy I posted above are probably much more of a concern for him as it will impact a wider swathe of the electorate and his own claims to credibility much more than the events of the last week or two .
