I’m not even English
No surprise that whole city is a shithole …
I forgot that Sunak would have been chancellor during all this, yet another stick for Labour to beat him with during PMQs…
The company had been incorporated for two weeks when they got the contract, which means logically when Mone was lobbying for them they didn’t even exist.
£200m was given to them and the PPE they supplied wasn’t even fit for use.
Make no mistake, at the start of the pandemic when we were all worrying about our grandmas, or how we’d juggle work and childcare, these fucking were working out how to suck as much money out of the public purse as possible. Disaster capitalism at its most grotesque.
I think that was pretty much to be expected given the uproar amongst his local party members when he went on the show.
Absolutely fucking bonkers and it won’t happen.
So…are the tories bad for closing the mines or for opening them?
I’m confused.
Massive caveat that I’m not from the area, and I wasn’t around when all this went down.
But wasn’t the greater problem that they closed the mines without any replacement for the employment the mines provided, and essentially left the mining regions to sink or swim?
They’re Tories. They’re bad, full stop.
I’m no Tory supporter, but I swear reading these forums a line from the Clash White Man in Hammersmith Palais sums up Labour supporters to a tee.
“If Adolf Hitler flew in today, they’d send a limousine anyway”
Jesus
The way it’s going, Labour won’t need a general election to form a government.
Only an analogy before someone finds offence.
But basically they’d follow any cunt in charge of their party.
Sounds more like the current Tories to me
No, difference is the Tories actually want any old cunt in charge of their party.
It’s a incredibly harsh analogy, stemming from the ‘they are all as bad as each other’ bullshit that the Tories would love everyone to believe.
But it comes down to this. We live in a country that has a binary electoral choice, and that’s going to be the case until we can get a voting system that isn’t fucking insane. Do you want Labour in power or the Tories. Keir Starmer or Rishi Sunak? That’s the choice, and it’s stupid to pretend it’s any different.
You might not like Starmer, but the only opinion that matters electorally is do you like him more than Sunak? Do you prefer Labour in Government or the Tories.
Personally I don’t mind Starmer. If I were criticising him I’d say his natural instinct for caution and pragmatism is going to hold him back, and what’s needed now is boldness and ambition.
But the characterisation of him as a Tory is sheep’s clothing is absurd, propogated by his opponents and those in the party who label anyone to the right of Lenin as a Tory. Ideological purity does not win Labour elections. Christ, we should have learned that over the last decade. They have to compromise and win over people the Daily Mail have gaslit into metaphorically punching themselves in the face.
Clearly isnt true though given those who stopped voting labour because of Corbyn when he was leader and then the others who have since left because they dont like Starmer.
