Three-quarters of UK firms say Brexit deal has not boosted business
British Chambers of Commerce present government with urgent recommendations as members report struggle to sell into EU
Why donât you educate yourself then?
Most refugees remain in low income countries. Even compared to other EU countries the UK welcomes far fewer refugees.
Yes, but generally asking questions
Iâm fully to subscribed whatever end of the spectrum where people still believe in facts.
For the record, I have long been looking for an intellectually honest right-wing publication. Havenât actually found any however. And before you ask, I only read some articles in the Grauniad, typically the ones which actual journalists actually put effort into. Loads of their output is not the best either.
When was this though?
I stumbled upon one the other dayâŚI found it sitting on a pile of hensâ teeth and rocking-horse shit. It was full of articles about the truth of trickle-down economics, with a delightfully whimsical discussion of unicorn farts.
love it. I bought my first property aged 19 while a uni student working part time. But not because of any special financial savvy on my part - my parents organised it and gifted me the deposit. After living there with friends for two years while studying, the profit from its sale funded enough (~40%) of a home on a developable block such that I could rent it out and hold it cost neutrally. I had intended to develop it maybe 10 years post uni but I got a very strong offer from another developer who needed it to amalgamate several blocks for a large development. I was a cash millionaire (AuD only!) the year after I graduated my undergrad degrees. Definitely only because of my parents and absolutely nothing to do with hard work (which I probably did less of than most during my degree).
I canât think of one offhand. There are odd right wing journalists that are worth reading. Peter Oborne springs to mind. Rory Stewart isnât a journalist as such but he is worth reading when he does write.
The problem with a lot of publications is that they donât differentiate between reportage and opinion. That leads to the issue that news then becomes propaganda.
I think this actually goes back to the point @Dane made about not understanding the left/right thing. Much of it descends down to passing opinion as fact or deception as truth. Labels such as conservative and liberal are probable better and they donât have to be mutually exclusive. Someone can have liberal views about one subject yet be fairly conservative about another.
In the US you have The Bulwark. A conservative outlet with integrity. You have also the Dispatch. Conservative and elitist but rational and with integrity.
I could probably find more, but I dont read that many English speaking conservative papers and those are the only ones in the US I have found tbh. I read Norwegian ones though. I read mostly left of centre papers myself. But I do love to read conservatives too, as long as they are not of the whacko or propagandistic kind. Conservatives often have interesting perspectives that I sometimes learn from.
In an ideal world all any of us would disagree with are our values and therefore what our ideals/priorities.
Not our facts.
I cannot abide the current fashion to dispute facts or to present opinion as truth.
Ian Rush scored more goals for Liverpool than Robbie Fowler: fact.
Ian Rush was a better player than Robbie Fowler: opinion.
Robbie Fowler scored more goals for Liverpool than Ian Rush*. Fact.
(In the opinion of those eejits who say football only started in 1992).
âAccrington Stanley have a football clubâ
Who are they?
or
âI am Sparticusâ fact.
I love that Ian and Robbie believing Lucas Leiva is the greatest ever Red is both fact and opinion.

No shit
Needs a reaction button that is equal parts angry/facepalm.

Itâs good to see this kind of graphics, because it destroys some unfounded preconceptions one might have about some countries. For instance, I wouldnât have expected to see Sweden and Austria so far above the EU-average.
Sweden is less surprising to me for some reason, but Austria is massively surprising.
