UK Politics Thread (Part 2)

What don’t you believe?

We used to have national service for young men up until 2011 when we got rid of it. It meant either a basic military training or civilian alternative service (usually some kind of social/medical service - care of the elderly, disabled, hospitals etc.) I thought it was very good for us young lads and most people I know agree looking back.

Do you think that’s representative of NHS as a whole?

Do you think that your experience is typical of why the NHS is failing?

Snapped my right hand ring finger and little finger about 90 degrees right recently. Straightened them and carried on working.

Superglue was invented for field wound repairs. Used it loads of times.

Was that you going into your Monty Python Rocky mode or did you not go because of the probable waiting time?

Was too busy at work, simple. Didn’t have the time. I’m sure “staff” would have taken a week off. You don’t have that luxury when the job depends on you. Wouldn’t have gone any other time though as A&E has been 4 hours at the best of times in Warrington for 40 years.

Then let us judge him. And we will. He’s never getting a pass because VAR and the refs are corrupt.

Ahem.

Why should he get a pass

He’s no loveable clown like Boris.

Hope he just gets on with his job and improves the Country…

I guess they forgot the part where the white nurse was Polish and went home, while they deported the black nurse because of Windrush.

Of course not, what a ridiculous question.

It’s been 12 years of Tories. They’ve had five Prime Ministers since coming back to powers. The current one has been in previous Governments and just as much part of the shitshow as anyone else.

But yeah. Let’s give this one a chance. He might be different.

“And I will do this without speaking to any of the stakeholders involved”

Just asking. There are people that think this way.

So I’m clear on what is being talked about:

What is National Service?
Who are you serving?
How are you serving them?

Is it Compulsory?
For what age?

What do you do for National Service?
Do you get paid for it?
How long does it last?

After National Service does it boost your employment prospects?
What skills does it give to a person?

If anyone with knowledge could insert quick answers to these basic questions, I would be much obliged.

He’s promised to halve inflation this year which can only be a good thing…

That might put us back where we were before if we’re very lucky :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

When I was 19 I superglued my hand to shower head (which the glue partly melted).

I ended up having to break the shower head off and going to A&E. Never felt more of a knob.

Adrian Mole eat your heart out

I smacked myself in the face (lower jaw) with a plank of wood years ago. Pushed my lower teeth through my skin. Could put my tongue through the slit. Went to A&E, they literally just put superglue into the wound and hey presto.
