UK Politics Thread (Part 2)

I don’t think it was intentional but the speed that he dealt with it indicates that he has a more effective adviser than Johnson.

Ultimately, it’s a not the most heinous of crimes and the quick mea culpa looks far better in the public view than trying to wriggle out of it and giving a “one rule for them” impression.

A week is a long time in politics and I doubt anyone will be talking about this by Monday.

Absolutely, but an apologising PM has been famous for 5 minutes. Suspicious……

Utterly against this but for reasons you wouldn’t expect. People who don’t work won’t be asked to pay this. Like going to the chemist or dentist, yes, I’m one of those odd people round here who has to pay. The proposals won’t apply to the retired, unemployed, disabled etc etc etc.

But then I should be charged shouldn’t I because I work really fucking hard.

Wow, just wow. Speechless but somehow not surprised.

Saw some twat on Twitter suggesting that because Sunak has so much money, his fixed penalty should have been higher.
Chilling how many agreed with it too.

I completely agree with them.

The purpose of a fine is for the perpetrator to feel the pain and that will serve as a reminder not to break the law again. If the criminal doesn’t learn from their mistakes, what purpose does the punishment serve?

Like so many things, fines should be means tested.

Kinda makes the term ‘fixed penalty’ obsolete?

I suppose a Range Rover should get a higher parking ticket than a Mini then?

So that means I’ll have to play…

Nothing you were going to type after this phrase would make any logical sense.

I agree although here I think that the cost is reputational rather than financial.

Gavin Williamson could be stripped of knighthood after bullying probe (msn.com)
“The ex-Conservative education secretary is facing two separate formal investigations – by parliamentary authorities and the Tory party – into claims that he bullied civil servants and a fellow MP.
A letter shared with The Independent suggested that the forfeiture committee could consider re-examining Sir Gavin’s honour, if he was “censured” by the bodies currently probing the bullying claims.”

Anyone like to etimate ow many would sit in the House of Lords if we got rid of the bullies liars and criminals?

Sorry but I don’t. I remember 16. Not a time to make life changing decisions

Why not 15? Why not 12?

And yet it was your generation who made the push for Brexit.
