Death penalty does though.

There are plenty of cases where you would say ‘yep, definitely guilty. Close the book’ that turned out to be innocent.

There’s plenty of cases of people going to jail for a crime, being “rehabilitated” with some prison time and going back to that same lifestyle. pick your poison.

Murderer gets out of jail, kills another innocent. how is that any different than the risk of sentencing an innocent. Where is the risk higher?

It’s a hypothetical, but don’t forget who issues the verdict. it’s by peers, not by judge. the jury of peers must approve of the death sentence, and under strict guidelines of consideration. to prevent such an instance

there is no group of peers who pass judgement on the victim of murder.

All signs of society’s current trajectory point towards a failure of the justice system’s accountability to the whole, which is being waylaid to the rights of the criminal?
