UK Politics Thread (Part 2)

Given what the BBC editorial team is like of late, I’ll wager that it’s because they thought it would get clicks.

Given that it outraged you enough to post it here where people will click it to see exactly what it’s about that makes you outraged, it worked.

Your very action just encouraged their editorial team to commission more such pieces, well done.

Yeah, outraged. I’ve already written to the editor of the Telegraph I was so outraged. Outrage outrage outrage.

Or not.

Oh and you didn’t answer the question. Why is this news?

Then read it again. You not understanding it is not the fault of the author.

Sounds about right for a few on here.
Failure to agree means you’re racist/prejudice/hateful/wrong/transphobic/homophobic or any other fucking ism dreamt up

One huge problem with media these days is the lack of facts and challenge. This is on any side of the political spectrum

Taking the GB News interview above, Widicome is allowed to spew utter lies and bullshit completely unchecked or challenged in any way. The BBC is equally guilty of this, and for that matter, so is parliament.

It ultimately becomes a matter of who pulls the right emotional strings in the end, they gather momentum and a ground swell of support. Before you know it the lies have become truth.

Why the fuck did you read it and then repost it to another forum?

I think that’s the answer to your question.

If you hold a licence to broadcast into people’s homes, you have a duty to tell the truth, or at the very least not deliberately mislead.

Really? I missed that law.

Spent 30 seconds on the BBC to find a perfect example. Odd I know, imagine somebody using evidence to prove their point.

It’s in the Newsbeat section. Which has a remit of providing music, entertainment, interviews and social media news with a target audience of teens/early 20s.

Should a national corporation only focus on pleasing middle aged gammons?

Is that aimed at @Klopptimist ?

Yeah, the insults are back! My god we had a solid 48 hours without a shit one, I’ll re-start the counter.

Yes, all the gammon accusations are thrown at me. The hurler thinks it’s funny. It wasn’t the first time. Fed up of reporting it, I seem to be fair game which is ironic as pigs don’t have feathers and don’t tend to be hunted.

No, it’s ‘as opposed to teens/young 20 year olds’

Fair enough. I’ve no idea what GB News is so can’t comment further. Yet.

Brats?

What are they putting in the water up there? Can’t be Irn-Bru.

@Dane maybe you can enlighten us.

Middle aged and older right wingers love trans news and trans outrage.

The more they see of it the more they can engage in their side of the culture war.

The whole thing is extremely boring. I must be the only person left who has no desire to discuss an issue that has 0 effect on my day to day life.

It’s a pretty tame insult.

No wonder you dislike working class communities so much if a bit of gentle ribbing upsets you.
