UK Politics Thread (Part 2)

The other week you were literally railing against gay angels in a fantasy TV show.

Were they gay to add anything to the story or purely to tick boxes? You know the answer, I know the answer. You just choose to ignore it.

I think it was several months ago, my word my posts donā€™t half live in your head.

As it was on the BBC website, I mistakenly assumed the program was on the BBC. I donā€™t watch shit cooking shows because I can cook. Very well. But given that Channel 4 is essentially a private BBC, itā€™s basically all the same thing and the BBC is QED verging on communist.

Now can you see where that comment verged into the ridiculous?

I certainly agree with you there.

Hi Nadine. Howā€™s Boris?

I was almost going to agree with you here but then I wondered, and Iā€™m 100% open to advice / thoughts on this, whether this means that we categorise gay as ā€œnot normalā€. Should we actually be thinking that way? Or should we just accept it as different and if thatā€™s what writers choose to happen in a fantasy world then so be it, even if its not relevant to the story.

As I said, I dont know what Iā€™d call ā€œrightā€ on that one.

Thereā€™s nothing in my post about the normality or otherwise of homosexuality. Have you been watching The Last of Us? Itā€™s not on the BBC but the point stands, Ep3 and 7 bring zero, nothing, nada to the story except the writerā€™s fantasy world.

Gay angels.

Then why is it an issue? Honest question

Does it really matter if characters are made gay just to be more inclusive?

If it was based on a real person who wasnā€™t gay, or a notorious womaniser like James bond, silly. If itā€™s some random character in a zombie flick or angels, the gayest of all fictional beings, who cares?

I wouldnā€™t even pay it the slightest bit of attention.

It takes some next level cognitive dissonance/lack of self awareness to spend half the day calling people wokey snowflakes and then take to the internet to whinge about gay angels in a tv show.

I thought it was either Jones or Elliott who were pictured with one?

And cue righteous indignation!

Sat on a carpark waiting for Jnr gives one time.

As for the point at hand, I didnā€™t bring it up, Mascot resurrected it from 2022. Can angels be gay? Who cares. Why even reference their sexuality when it adds nothing to the story? If it adds nothing, itā€™s only done for agenda purposes. A box ticking exercise. Got to fill those diversity quotas.

I thought youā€™d be watching GB News on your phone while you wait.

I hate to add to the sidetrackiness of this thread, but it was Harvey who was pictured on holiday in the States carrying a bag. This caused consternation among a certain section of posters. Others, more urbane and worldly, defended the ladā€™s right to carry a bag, and questioned why this should be seen as somehow effeminate. This fascinating discussion led to the creation of the now legendary Masculinity thread, in which the topic of manliness has been explored in excruciating detail.
Now, back to tv presenters. Iā€™ve heard rumours that some weather reporters are fans of musical theatre. Is this the end of all we hold dear?

Pornhub.

Youā€™re an oddball.

On one hand you are say you want it not to be made into a big issue when characters are gay. On the other you object when a characterā€™s sexuality isnā€™t an aside to the plot.

I think the issue might be that you just donā€™t like gay characters. Or people.

I brought it up because you recent dislike of fat people on the BBC (but not the BBC) reminded me of the time you objected to androgynous, celestial entities in a fantasy drama being gay.

You seem to be extremely intolerant of seeing people who arenā€™t like you on TV.

Then donā€™t. Verisimilitude would seem to not be in your wheel house.

Googlesā€¦ā€¦.

Yeah, I fucking hate Winnie the Pooh too. As you know, Iā€™m not a bear.

You look like a bear in your picture. Certainly no twink.

Then maybe you can clarify what kind of gay person on TV you would be OK with.

  1. A gay person where their sexuality is a part of the story and essential to the plot.

  2. A gay person where itā€™s totally irrelevant to the plot, and it wouldnā€™t make any difference if they were straight, but the just happen to be gay.

  3. A gay person, where we donā€™t know they are gay, they never mention being gay, and it literally never comes up at all.
