UK Politics Thread (Part 3)

The sad thing is I can’t actually tell if you’re joking.

Nope, thats why i think it was a deliberate trap by the tories. No way both legal immigration and boats are stopped overnight.

It stinks and the heated dis ussions here are a consequence of that. Its crazy because most people pretty much want the same thing

Not much being said about this

It’s shit. He’ll probably get booted. Good.

What’s there to be said apart from your obvious furious wanking over it because it involves a Labour MP?

There are precious few details out there, and there’s nothing to be said apart from speculation?

It’s helpful to remember 1.2M migrate to the UK every year. More than the population of Edinburgh and Glasgow combined.

Yet for the last 15 years, we have had austerity, with cuts to services. It is a recipe for disaster.

Blaming asylum seekers and illegal migrants is like blaming a leaky faucet for your house flooding, all the while you have left the tap running for your bath tub.

It’s a diversion tactic by the government. That not to say a leaky faucet is not a problem that needs fixing. However even if you get a plumber round to fix it, you’re still going to have wet feet.

Migrants are generally a good thing for the UK, however it is prudent that this is managed. Taking the world’s best. This can be balanced taking in asylum seekers where there is a moral obligation.

Just to be clear, this is not net migration. A large proportion of this migration is temporary.

This 1.2m figure is also not “every year”, it was 2023, and the typical figure is 800k.

Not good, it bugs me on several fronts

  1. That a new government is doing this, exactly the same stunt as the previous government.
  2. Secondly that Hoyle is toothless. First offence here, fair enough but when tories were doing it every other week it was all noise and no bite.

You are correct, but the underlying message I am conveying is still the same.

It’s like a conversation of net spend vs gross spend on transfers.

Instead of it being population of Glasgow and Edinburgh. It’s just one of those cities net. Both cities gross. It’s important to understand both.

However I would disagree with most migrants simply being temporary. The UK birth rate is currently 1.44. It needs to be 2.1 to be sustainable. Yet population has increased increase between 2011 and 2022 was 4.3M. Using you numbers above (for the last year) it’s likely to be even higher.

That’s what I am conveying. Population is increasing during a time of cuts. It’s wrong to blame asylum seekers/illegal migrants when it is driven by legal migration.

Eyeballing it roughly suggests 300k per year from 2013 to 2021, so that’s 2.4m, and another 1.2m over the next couple of years (primarily linked to HK and Ukraine I believe).

I’m not sure it can be much higher than any ONS population estimates. Either way, it all sounds terrifying I’m sure, except:

The gradient barely budges. The inflection point came around 2003, if there is one.

I don’t have access to the data off-hand, but I could look into it.

And ironically, given the demographic crisis you allude to with the birth rate, it probably is necessary to be importing this many people, likely to be younger, given the ageing population.

EDIT: How Long Do Migrants Stay in the UK? - Migration Observatory - The Migration Observatory suggests that for long-term migrants, it’s an annual average of 530k arrivals and 200k departures, long-term being defined as >1 year. See the paragraph above Table 1.

Took a glance at that X account to see what informs your worldview and your posts on this forum. Bonkers.

Just to let people know I’ve deleted the post from Klopptimist, as it links to one of the most vile Twitter accounts I’ve seen. Overt unashamed racism and antisemitism from a white supremacist fucknut.

I can only assume Klopptimist didn’t know what he was posting, but a reminder to everyone. Twitter is a cesspit. Please be careful what you repost.

Was a 5 second search. I don’t do X except for stuff like this. I don’t have a “feed”

In response to the mod above. It might (I’ve no fucking idea) be linked to some nasty racist bastards. However I wasn’t intentionally posting the xist I was posting the video. If Hitler had have discovered X-rays, we’d still allow X-rays.

As I don’t think the video is fake, why remove it? Do we ban all mention of the bible because it mandates slavery? Not sure on this one. Actually, yes I am.

That’s maybe worth reflecting on

"Sir Keir Starmer, we’re currently trying to figure out how we can blame Mike Amesbury assaulting a member of the public on the far right, we’ll have an answer for you by the close of play today.”

I think the UK needs the Chelsea owners to run the country. They will just go out there to buy and stockpile youths just because they can. Birth rate Replacement solved.

Seemingly this boring cretin doesn’t know what a working person is. Really confuse him and ask him to define what a working woman is :rofl:

I’m a working man, I know exactly who I am and this budget will increase my taxes. Traitorous cunt.
