UK Politics Thread (Part 4)

I can understand your logic here. I just feel it can have a negative effect. We already dismiss the disingenuous RW headlines for their perceived bias and use of favourable sources. Therefore LW media also needs to be held to account rather than excuse their headlines as “it grabs attention”.

Sadly, and this thread - myself included - is a prime example of the way society is drifting. There is no real middle ground anymore. Its either your Left or Right.

Does it though? I’m not saying you’re wrong, I just don’t know what people are expecting. They still give a lot of media to the protests. I mean, there is Genocide happening elsewhere in the world that doesn’t get much media attention. Maybe over exposure can lead to it being desensitised, at least frustration at the lack of exposure keeps people angry. Who knows :man_shrugging:t3:.

This is another one to file under misinformed and unhelpful:

Could have put this in a number of threads. Shocking and vile:

A good step I think. Hopefully they do a bit more too.

Does Crypto have any legitimate use that isn’t served by the retail banking sector?

I have had it “explained” to me so many times and I still haven’t the foggiest idea how it works..

I might regret saying that…

Yes, sort of, not really.

It sort of has some niche uses that are more beneficial in certain parts of the world, but being honest it all still sounds incredibly shady.

I actually put the question into Chatgpt for a giggle to see what it spat out.

what did Altman’s AI say?

As above some uses maybe, but the proliferation and multitude of crypto currencies seem to be deliberately obfuscated ponzi/pyramid schemes. Have people made lots of money from them? Yes they have, and this is what seems to cloud people’s judgement and opinion of them.

The strange thing about crypto and most definitely Bitcoin is that it roughly follows the 4 year US dollar liquidity cycle. It did until Trump got into office that is.

It’s also worth watching the deals being made on the chart. The money going through there is insane. See below. Every line is a trade.

Back to topic.
I seriously need to look into this. This is a massive red flag for me

Worked offshore for years, capping was big, code for we"ll come back later!

Question on that. Why leave it? From a demob, remobilisation perspective it doesn’t make sense. There would have to be a really good reason to do that. I’ve heard there’s lots of US wells that have been capped because the effort Vs reward was no longer there, but new tech has opened that opportunity again.

But it still won’t move the needle on fuel and energy prices in the UK.

A lot were dry or non viable, but probably were just marked off,dry one were blown, but plenty were capped, too much oil reduces the cost,so come back later and, wee, look what we found.
All about$$$$$!
