I’m not sure that the two are comparable, and I think Starmer’s action’s on Mandelson are more a case of wishful thinking, failure to do due diligence and pragmatism to the point of self destruction. I’m not sure there is anything that I’d put at the same level of egregious mistruthin’ as claiming the police advised you to stay away because of a security threat when they said no such thing.
Farage has a long standing record of lying and corruption that most other politicians would struggle to match. I think there should be some sort of parliamentary enquiry into him.
The UK hasnt got the same scale of leverage and simply cutting immigration to zero just won’t move that needle.
170k migrants isn’t going to reduce the cost of a loaf of bread or a tank of fuel.
It’s the same argument as the UK being responsible for 2% of global co2 emissions. You can’t have that argument and argue this is somehow different.
Similarly, if fuel was down by 5p a litre. The lorry delivering a load of baked beans would save how much? What would the saving per tin be? It won’t move.
Both can be true here. There was something very dark and disturbing around the whole thing with Mandelson, who I think was the cherry on top of a very dark cake.
Meanwhile, Farage has an equally muddy background of lies, supporters, financial dealings and the lies are just poor efforts to try and maintain this man of the people image he wants.

I think it kinda does reduce wages and increase rents. 10 million people coming in over a decade need housing, they compete in the labour market and they need other things that are in limited supply.
Potentially with fair and proper housing building and not hoarding you can increase supply to try balance it but it´s definitely a factor.

Exactly, but @Bonus is arguing that prices should be coming down as immigration decreases. My point is that even if you cut immigration to zero, it won’t move the needle on prices. There’s too many other links in the chain that won’t decrease the price. They’ll just take the miniscule increase in profits. They always do. That’s a part of basic inflation
