And? What did he find? I’m at the edge of my seat here
I think a big part is he has worse people around him now. As much as the Republican political establishment has now embraced him they are weak and feckless so are limited in their ability to reign him in. But he now has a lot more hangers on, people uninvolved in politics who are ginned up at the perceived freedom to now say whatever they want. While in 2016 his surrogates were able to largely clean up his mistakes, albeit aided by a very compliant press who didnt take him seriously and only wanted to fuck Clinton, this time around those around seemingly are intent of amplifying Trump’s worst message that proper campaign professions are working day and night to do damage control over. In 2016 had the Puerto Rican comments been made by anyone touching his campaign there would have been immediate alignment on the response and no one would have veered from it an inch. This time around they are still split several days later on whether to try to clean it up and redirect, or whether to double down by chiding liberals who should shut the fuck up because it was funny
Well, Harris is about international co-operation to try to resolve international issues, particularly where they have an impact on US interests.
Trump is all about his own pockets.
I hope it works out. Not going to hold my breath though. Too much damage has been done by now.
When I heard about it (~5 years ago), he hadn’t found a good way to test the hypothesis
Great. My simulation says there’s a 50.01 % chance his hypothesis was right.
The last half an hour has just reinforced my view that TAN is the best news source on the interwebz.
Won’t be long before it’s infested with Utd fuckers pretending to be one of us.
It’s genuinely amusing to go back and think about all the “independent thinkers” who got so offended at liberals for ever claiming that Musk and Rogan were RW.
“Oh, it’s right wing to just ask questions now is it?”
Mubbsy has Stockholm syndrome?
I know two-fifths of fuck all, but I am very happy to say that I thought Rogan was a fuckwit ever since I saw him years ago have a ‘serious’ discussion with Eddie Bravo about the moon landing.
Yeah but he had Bernie Sanders on once and was respectful to him and seemed to like a lot of what Bernie said.
I see Brian Cox shorts from the JRE all the time.
Is rather disappointing.
Plus his comedy is weapons-grade terrible.
Problem with Rogan is, if you’re not paying attention, that face-to-face he probably comes across quite well. One thing I picked up on quickly when I used to listen to him is that he would be swayed by literally any argument whatsoever so to the person he was talking to at that exact moment he would be perfectly lovely and engaged.
Then the next episode it would be a fucking nutcase saying everything said in the last episode was bullshit and Rogan would agree with that too.
Its been years since I listened to a full episode but I do remember him having Eddie Izzard on and talking about cross-dressing, transgender etc and having no issue with it then a few episodes later he had someone else on - I want to say Candice Owens - and was joining in demonizing trans people. That’s where I lost interest in the show.
For someone like Brian Cox I’d like to think he’s one of those people who only listens to episodes with interviewees he cares about and is just a bit unaware of the evolving far-right tendencies Rogan has developed. But I may be being too generous to Cox also.
Got to think of some sort of family sweepstake for this, just to make sport of it. All four of us are home. Three have voted early, the fourth will vote today. We will keep abreast of the election into the evening as the numbers start to come in, but don’t expect anything to be properly declared for a day or two, maybe longer.
I’m thinking maybe everyone puts a dollar in the pot and predicts the electoral college total, closest wins four dollars and family bragging rights.
Or maybe the time, to the minute, when Trump calls a press conference this evening and declares victory. Closest wins four dollars and family bragging rights.
It is of course a very serious juncture, not just for America but also for its impact in the world. It seems fitting therefore to find a way to make it like the Grand National or the Kentucky Derby
Rogan is, unfortunately given how bad the median content is, an incredible platform and whomever he invites on is going to be given room to get across the things they think are important. For people like Cox, Peter Hoetez (a key scientist in the Covid vaccine program) and NdgT going on to explain to Rogan’s viewers how the world actually works has tremendous value. It is clear it has no impact on Rogan himself for the reasons you say…a person so open minded that all the information he encounters falls out…but there is a large audience being targeted with not just really bad information but a bad epistemology. If there is an opportunity for a meaningful counter message to be aired to these people then surely we are all better for it.
I can’t remember the details now, but the Harris team negotiated with Rogan. I think Harris was willing to do an hour, but Rogan wanted three hours, and an agreement couldn’t be made so they all moved on.
Harris has been active in lots of other media things, and has been the busier candidate over the last few weeks. Trump has seemed low energy in comparison, and he has been getting more bizarre, and more nasty.
I’m not altogether sure that not appearing on Rogan was a big mistake for Harris. It might have helped a little, and if she loses I’m sure that will be a small part of the inquest for her team.
Big if though. She is going to win. 300+ electoral college votes is my prediction. Women coming out en masse to turn the page and move from the era of Trump.
Anecdotal, but my own daughter driving back home, 250 miles, to be able to vote in her first election, makes me proud as a father and it feels like a portent of a wider mood among women in the nation.
Yeah, we havent heard from the Harris team directly, but Rogan’s version was that they were negotiating and couldnt find a date that worked for them both, with him also being unwilling to consider options that made him go to her or that were limited in time (she allegedly wanted to do only an hour).
Weird he found it so easy to fit in Musk and Vance in the last few days before the election though. I guess his calendar just miraculously opened up.
Find that comment kind of ironic considering Britain’s very lengthy involvement in doing the exact same thing over the years.
You hired them you moron. “Only the best people”
One of the biggest stories of this cycle - There is no interest in even trying to make Trump accountable for his own decisions and ineptitude.
