Why wait? You could mention it now.
On the internet.
Where the whole world can read it.
I have here several times young whipper snapper.
Hey, Bruce. How about you fuck off and take your parochial little incoherent attiude with you, you middling fucking hack
And I think when you’re a national team coach, you need to know your environment, you need to know the animals you coach, and we’re lacking that. If you’re an American coaching the U.S. team, you know the culture, you know the pride and how important the national team is. I think when you bring in somebody from the outside, they don’t understand it, especially in our country, because we’re so different.
Argentinian accused of not understanding how important the international football team is to its players
Whitecaps 2 - 0 Inter Miami
Always enjoyable to see Messi Miami lose.
Even more enjoyable that it’s a Canadian side.
Bit ironic that I.M. get the piss taken by a club formed in 2017 regarding history
The MLS is a really weird league. Part of me appreciates the effort, but it never feels like anything other than cosplay.
I find it quite enjoyable.
Like I’m not tuning into see good football but it’s like the Championship without those teams who suck the soul out of football.
Finding yourself standing next to that guy who corrects someone by saying “no, they call it futbol (said in a bad Ditch accent)”, and then turning to you, the foreigner, for affirmation tends to suck the soul out of me
Stereotypes die hard don’t they.
The Poch experiment is not going well
Perfect example that not all club managers would be good at international level and international managers can be often awful at club level.
Poch is definitely still struggling getting to know his MLS based players with so many of the European based players still unavailable. I dont know if there was a single player who started last night who would have played in a world cup game if everyone was available, and maybe the bigger issue is that the MLS still isnt good enough for a US based entirely on MLS players to meet where the expectations for the US fans are these days.
Still they don’t seem to be going anywhere. He is supposed to be one of the best coaches and they seem to have regressed.
I seem to think Pochettino is one of those that fits clubs rather than can slot in most places.
Like Klopp I think could go anywhere to be honest and have relative success though he is top tier.
Yep, Richards and Robinson are the only two who started that have any chance to start WC game. They played some decent footy when they had the chance, just too many guys not up to the needed level. MLS remains a retirement league.
Wheels seem to be falling off, getting battered 4-0 by Switzerland (in Nashville, no less) is not a good look
All while the likes of Landon Donovan are out there pillorying the European based players for not being involved this summer and criticizing their commitment to the cause. A perspective aired with pretty much zero understanding of the demands of being put through a full European based schedule and then having to rock up to play summer internationals.
I often feel a big challenge for the current crop of players is the requirement to live up the reputations of the previous generation, reputations that are today maybe not in line with what they actually delivered. The brass balls on Donovan, someone who repeatedly ran away from the pressures of developing his own game in Europe, who himself took a sabbatical despite only playing in the home comforts of the MLS, to call out players who have made a career for themselves in Europe and in turn elevated US football is staggering.
To that point it is worth pointing out that Tyler Adams tried to show up this summer. And now he’s hurt again.
It is far more important for the prospects of the US team that players like Adams and Pulisic are able to show up next summer and be ready to play than it is they are heavily involved right now. One doesn’t have to preclude the other, but lots of their key players are physically fragile and caution is probably in everyone’s best interests.
Why are Saudi Arabia in the gold cup? They going after the 2k that attend the league over there? Broadcast around 4 in the morning.
Qatar were invited (allowed to buy their way in) for the last 2 versions as well. It’s an ugly brazen cash grab
