From that Semenyo interview that’s been doing the rounds the main take home I had was he didnt just get his players standing up to City, but made them believe there was absolutely no reason to not go toe to toe with them. I think it is very much a brand of football that SHOULD translate to a bigger side with more resources and supposedly better players.

And yeah, the Bilbao thing is also relevant. It isnt a huge club in a continental sense, but it is to them. And I think interestingly it is in a way that will make the relationship between Liverpool and the City make a more lot more sense to him than it might to others. It’s a parochial club that represents something about the people that makes them stand apart from the country in which it is located. A Basque player who played for a Basque club will absolutely get the Scouse not English thing and the importance of LFC in exemplifying that.
