Welcome to Liverpool Darwin Nunez

He had better perform, our owner had to downgrade his transportation modes after spending this much for him.

Welcome Darwin to the greatest football club in the world! Stay humble and learn from Jurgen. He will turn you into the best striker in the world. Trust me. And by the way, YNWA.

We’ve had him for 12 hours and no goal yet. What a busted flush of a signing.

Alternatively, our guys just couldn’t stop stroking him and sniffing his hair.

Get over it and paint us a picture.

To be fair, it is probably the fastest way to get around London…

Interesting that in his interview when asked about other forwards he focussed on Bobby, Jota, and Diaz, and only mentioned Salah in passing. Obviously didnt mention Mane.

His South American idols. He mentions Bobby a few times so obviously can’t believe he’s getting to share a pitch with the legend

Welcome to LFC Darwin, you lucky boy! :+1:

A few thoughts on this:

  • the initial sum is £64 m + £21 m bonuses, with a six-year contract to go with it. That means if he turns out to be a crock, we’ll book a loss similar to what happened with Keita. The contract is long and expensive, so it will hurt on that level, but the transfer fee will be amortized over a larger number of years. On the other hand, if he turns out to be a success, what we paid for him won’t matter anymore. He’ll repay it with goals, trophies etc. And the long contract will be seen as a masterstroke.

  • this lad is an absolutely massive unit. I hadn’t realised this immediately, but at more than 6.1 feet tall, and with the overall size of his frame, he’s built for the PL. If he can stay fit, and once he gets used to the pace of this league, he’ll be able to genuinely bully defenders. This should add a significant layer to our game, or at least, compensate in part for the loss of Sadio’s physicality, and the departure of Divock. Of course, as we know too well, height and a powerful frame isn’t everything, otherwise, Carroll would have been a success for us. But still, it’s an interesting additional feature for us upfront if you add it to all the other qualities he seems to bring to the table.

  • I might be wrong about this, but isn’t this transfer one of our first under Klopp of a lad who doesn’t speak English when arriving? This is a handicap, so he’ll hopefully get up to speed rapidly, even though football is a universal language. Suarez didn’t speak English and banged the goals in galore. But for the coherence of the group, it’s really important to be able to communicate with all other players, so take out your duolingo, Darwin lad, and work hard not only the football, but also your communication skills!

  • all in all, I’m excited, and can feel some good vibes around this transfer. Fingers crossed that he can hit the ground running! :muscle: :boom:

Klopp:

“He thinks we suit him and we believe he is the right fit for us - so let’s do it.”

“He can set a tempo, he brings energy, he can threaten space from central and wide areas. He is aggressive and dynamic with his movement.”

“He plays without fear, he’s powerful, I know he will excite our supporters.”

"It’s important we all recognise we are getting a ‘work in progress’ with Darwin - he recognises that himself. I love how much focus and humility he has.

“We have wonderful attacking options already and he becomes part of that now. So there is no pressure on him at all. He signs for a very long time and we intend to nurture his talent and see it grow.”

From memory Fab didn’t speak much (any?) English when we signed him and Bobby took years before he would converse much in english. Agree it’s not ideal but if he works on it diligently from the start it will be ok.

We also have loads of Spanish and Portuguese speakers in the squad, so he’ll be able to talk to lots of the lads while he learns English

Follow Milly’s example the english players should and learn spanish
