Transfer windows are about registrations. Contracts can always be signed, but registrations can only be transferred in the window.

Depends on various factors I think.
Whether the selling club want to get more clubs interested and hence provoke a bidding war might be one of them.
I think we announced the signing of Vvd prior to the Jan window opening, so thereās already precedence there.
I presume some of this is due to there being fewer market signals when the wndow isnāt open, so itās harder to gauge value and all that. But it seems that the club are always working on transfers, if you believe the reports.
Also the club seem to have a pretty good relation with Leverkusen over the years.
Itās always easier to do business then.

And the buy out clause makes Leverkusenās position very difficult.
I presume they donāt have a buy out clause for Wirtz and hence the increased price they want for Wirtz.
