What's happening? (Part 1)

This is what is known in the cycling world as Remco syndrome. Something to avoid at all costs if possible. In serious cases it can get you in daylight hours.

Seriously though get well soon. Ribs hurt like hell.

Quite a few years ago I broke my arm on New Years Day in Scotland. I was sober, as i had been the designated driver the night before. I was walking the dog in the morning, slipped and my elbow snapped.

A&E was rammed, and they had a warning on that there was a 4 hour wait. I was seen within half an hour as the wait only applied to drunks.

I don’t know what pain killers they gave you. The ones I received in Germany for broken ribs were rubbish, but I did have a secret stash of opiates from Scotland that I had kept after the broken elbow.

Anyway, have a good rest and I hope you are back to sorts soon.

I have started to brew some beer :beer_mug: it’s a kit and only makes 2 litres. The sterilisation got on my nerves so it’s probably not going to be that good however one never knows. Fingers crossed :crossed_fingers:t2:.
Such a long time since I dabbled in this, made barrels worth of cider back in my hayday.

It’s years since I have attempted home brew. Having emigrated to Germany, beer is both far cheaper and far nicer than anything I can concoct myself.

I next to never drink alcohol, just on occasion when with friends or family. It’s far to expensive here in France, except some wines.
My son bought me this kit so he’ll have to taste it with me when it’s done.
Beer in France isn’t very good, I only liked Pelforth Brune. Thankfully there’s wine :wine_glass: even if now it’s only on the rare occasion.

Had my operation at 7.30am today. Have been in a drug fuelled haze ever since. Just starting to come down now. Don’t know what happened to you @RedWhippet, but I got some good stuff, and I’m quite experienced in this field.
Anyway, it seems to have gone well and I’m hoping I’m over the worst. Apparently, I’ll be released on Wednesday. Then I’m going to find out how to get by with one arm for a bit.
Luckily I’ve got a great bunch of helpful mates.
Thank you for all the good wishes Tanners, it’s been a comfort :slightly_smiling_face:

Now I’ve got the munchies.

Give me chocolate!

I can’t remember the name of the stuff I had. I did look it up at the time and outside of Germany it was only licensed for horses.

Ketamine?

No. It might have been Metamizole. I had pneumonia as well as the broken ribs, which would have made opiates inadvisable. I had some industrial strength codeine left so I used that as the pain was unbearable.

How are you doing now @Bekloppt . Hope you get well soon.

Take care and don’t get addicted to the pain killers!

I submitted my resignation at the end of March. My department lead sat on it for a month and handed it back to me when he moved to another department at the end of April. I promptly forwarded the resignation to the HR, and went on to have a meeting with the COO.

The COO promised an intern for my department, and agreed to a project I wanted to do. In return, I agreed to defer the resignation by a couple of months. This is a weird situation, while both may feel to have got something, things have practically remained the same.

@Bekloppt I’ve been slow to this thread and just caught your Mayday injury news. That’s nasty.

Good luck with your recovery.

Watching Liverpool win is normally my medicine. But can’t promise that solution right now.

Please be a bit careful about using it recreationally. It’s so easy to do so (like you I have experience), and it’s so easy to fall into the trap of continuing with that if you have access. Stupid of me to say this probably. You know best, but I have seen so many struggle with opiats after they maybe took a bit too much over time.

I am not a prude. I am not saying you should never ever take a slightly higher dose so it can also be recreationally, if you are having a bad time, maybe you even need that. Just let it be extremely rare and avoid using it if you are feeling depressed.
