What's happening? (Part 1)

Not fun, hope you are on the mend now.Take care!

I think it was me that was taking the opiates at one point. They generally don’t seem too keen prescribing them in Germany. I find that the side effects are one of the key factors in not becoming addicted to them.

Different painkillers have different uses and it’s important to get that right. One thing that I always found good in Scotland is that they used physiotherapy as a key service. When I broke my elbow, they had already booked me in with a physio even before I had been discharged from A&E. In Germany, you seem to be left to your own devices.

Yeah, it’s very hard to get opiats prescribed in Norway too. I have had recently paralgin forte (which is just paracetamol and some codein) due to tooth operation and a very painful nerve and even that requires arguing why it is necessary to your doctor (paracetamol hardly helps me personally against bad tooth-ache). I think Germany and Norway are quite similar in that even the mildest forms of opiats, are quite hard to get even if you are in pain (personally, I sometimes worry that people who are socially akward or not good at speaking, will sometimes not get the pain relief that they should have got, and have the right to get, because knowing to speak well is key in getting prescriptions when it’s not a super clear cut case of internal injuries and etc.)

But many of us have been very ill at some time. And then you might get something stronger and likely you have not finished using up all the pills when the pain has faded to more livable levels where it no longer gets in the way of concentration and/or sleep.

Is there such a thing as a nail fairy?

Result of getting trod on by studs in footie. Took a month to fully “die” and come off, the replacement is barely there.

I had my big toe nail fall off last year, along with one of my little toenails. I got hand, foot and mouth. Normally only affects kids, but I’m somehow “special”. Had little blisters on my feet, some under nails, and they dropped off after a while. Not pleasant but it’s mostly grown back now. Can take about 6 months!

Glad it sorted itself out

I lost a toenail 2 years ago after a metal crate landed on my right big toe, unfortunately at the root. I feared I would lose it permanently, but it did grow back thankfully. But like DrDamn says, it takes a few months. My doctor told me it could actually take up to 12 months in some cases. I think mine had fully grown back after 4 months or so.

Anyway, nails can be a bit of an irritant (that you have to cut them all the time or you’ll look like a witch or a warlock), but man, you miss them if you lose them; that is for sure.

Weirdly enough, I saw him in the late 1980s supporting Jimmy Page on a UK tour. It’s funny how some people can take a drastically different career path.

Saw him a couple of years ago at the Sydney opera house. Great experience. He’s a brilliant communicator.
