My stepson died yesterday, on his 42 birthday.
I haven’t had much if any contact with him for about 20 years. Still sad though and of course the rest of the family are devastated.
He had a brain tumour that he ‘fought’ for years,I’m not very clued up on this stuff but it entered metastasis?
It was a decision to end his life than try therapy.
Essentially cancer cells spreading from their original tumour site to other organs. Prognosis tends to go downhill from there.
Sending love to your family.
Thanks.
Yes for a long time it wasn’t cancerous however once it turned that way things went very fast.
They couldn’t remove much of the original tumour as it was so close to the optical nerve. It just became a matter of time.
My best friend had a much more virulent form of brain cancer which went much more rapidly. He outlasted many prognostics, it was still quick though.
Sorry to hear that @Flobs ![]()
That’s sad Flobs…it’s no age…but think of the good times…
Hi Flobs,
Sending you and his family condolences and thoughts in your time of sadness.
Too young and gone too soon.
Apparently this guy ran out of his house to confront and challenge a gang of youths that were causing trouble…
All he got for his money was a new nickname… ‘Snackie Chan’
:0)

Just on my way back from a memorial in Cambridge. One of my mentors suddenly passed away in february. She was a well known bell ringer as well as a great biomedical scientist.
Very bohemian, bolshi but traditional in other ways.
Rest in power Marina Warner, thank you for teaching me all the Microbiology tips.

Right now, i need the pub ![]()
Red letter day for me. They took out the staples from my elbow this morning and now I only need the brace when I go outside. It’ll be another month or so until I get back to normal, but it definitely feels like the worst is over.
Puts everything else into perspective, doesn’t it?
My ship is just arriving in Rotterdam. They should have a sightseeing guide over the tannoy like they do on the Mersey ferries now.
“On your left you will find a sanctions busting container ship, and on the right is a plague ship…”
Somehow, oil containers aren’t quite as pretty as the three graces…
I wonder how long immigration takes now?
It’s a bit of a pickle arriving by ship to Rotterdam. You could be anywhere. Liverpool or Rome…
Hat. coat. Yes, I’ll find the door, thank-you.
Get well soon Bekloppt🙏
Where did you embark from?
Hull, it’s just a straight drive over from Liverpool.
Anyway, I was through immigration in 10 minutes. The UK cars were queuing up god knows how far back.
