When the shit hits the fan, and they've got the wrong man, that's Amorim!

Tax avoider (of £4 billion) and brexiteer Jim Ratcliffe

Radcliffe is a horrible piece of shit. His refinery next to where I lived regularly spewed crap into the atmosphere and if he was taken to task on it he would threaten to close it to avoid responsibility. Local politicians fawned after him so he got away scot free because they were spineless and worthless.

Nothing would give me greater satisfaction than to see him buy United and bankrupt them. Two birds and one stone and all that.

Perfect for United, then.

Out of Europe?

Except he’d probably bring them success, because that’s how the world works. E.g. Man Cheaty

I realise that, but I can dream, can’t I?

Who was recently trying to buy Chelsea.

Obviously Rat-cliffe is rich, but perhaps not to a scale that he can buy the club, rebuild the toilet and provide money for transfers even at the level which the Glazers have been putting in the club for an extended period of time?

I think he likely is. Net worth estimates are messy, but year after year he is listed in that category where even among multi billionaires his wealth is excessive. Most the people on the richest britons lists have net worths 3-4 billion. His is estimated in some places as high as 30. He could buy the club outright, spend a billion on players, rebuild old trafford and carrington and still be among the richest 2-3 men in the UK

He’s the richest man in the UK. He can do whatever he wants and still have billions left over

Edit: sorry didn’t see @Limiescouse post saying the same thing

One key point in all this, the Glazers don’t need to sell.

I haven’t looked in quite a few years, but circa 2015 they could not easily have sold. Their US real estate portfolio, mainly in Florida, was in such a mess that they needed the ManU asset to secure debt renewals, plus the cash flow to clear interest. Their leverage position was quite serious, liquidating ManU would not have left them in the black overall. A lot of the transactions they have done with the club can be traced to the fallout of the 2008 financial crisis, right down to the timing of the transactions.

It’s wishful thinking and the fans only care because they’ve been shit at signing players.

Who would have thought Woodward would look good.

That’s a tongue twister!

If Ratcliffe buys then at least he knows the city and has a feel for the club (I know he was in the running to buy Chelsea). He wouldn’t be another sovereign wealth fund, which is dead wrong, and presumably he wouldn’t be doing an LBO, which needs to be outlawed.

His Brexit view is neither here nor there. It’s a free country and that vote went almost right down the middle. Agree with him or disagree with him on that. It’s all been done to death.

The tax dodging stuff doesn’t look good, but realistically, I wouldn’t expect any multi-billionaire to be racing to the Inland Revenue, cheque book in hand. If he hasn’t done anything illegal, hate the system more than the fella, as most rich people employ schemes and tactics to minimize their tax burden.

If the worst of it is that he is a tax dodging Brexiteer I would definitely take that, if the alternate were to be some sort of Sovereign wealth fund muscling in, or human rights abusing leader/regime.

So not Dubai or an American consortium. I got that a bit wrong.

The BBC’s rumours page makes entertaining reading. Supposedly had a 110 million pound bid for Joao Felix rejected by Atletico Madrid, have been snubbed by Antony, Casemiro, Rabiot and Aubameyang, and are now trying to buy 30 year olds from Bundesliga clubs. They’re also trying to get the largely useless Pulisic on loan.

This can only get better, and not in a good way.

They can have Naby Keita, if they’re really desparate.

Don’t think spending on players was the problem with the Glazers, spending on the right players was.
