My girlfriend is about the most unromantic woman I’ve ever met. If I told her I liked her because she reminded me of my favourite toaster she would never talk to me again.

Mate you need a hobby
Haha @anon59854308
If you can’t understand that you may need to go back to school or become an American. They revel in that sort of shite.
I think the glazers were bidding for an IPL club while back. Hope it’s from the money taken out of United.
From Real’s part, it means big pressure on Tchouameni to come in immediately in Casemiro’s role and perform. Perhaps they saw signs in pre-season that it makes sense for them to sell Casemiro for that price, considering his age.
On United’s part, remains to be seen. Obviously he’s individually an upgrade, but also in which structure, way and with which partners. If he’s a single pivot, it’s curious to see what they do in the build-up phase (under Hag especially) against top opposition like us par example. Real used to move Casemiro and drop Kroos to help with the first phase. All interesting to follow how it happens.
Top notch TV incoming
Good read. It aligns with my thoughts, square peg going into a round hole, especially under Erik, who wants to play a high press game. Some key bits, that fans of other clubs, including us, will like;
If Erik ten Hag is to remain faithful to his high-pressure philosophy, with a high defensive line, then Casemiro’s lack of pace will be exposed.
He lacks the ability to control the spaces behind him, primarily because he is quite slow on the turn. This could prove expensive against teams such as Arsenal and Manchester City, who play a lot of inside passes and find pockets of space.
Madrid’s compact set-up disguised that weakness in Casemiro’s game. With less quality around him in the Brazilian national side, he was less influential. That could be a problem with United when faced with teams that pressure high if he is expected to drive with the ball.
Despite starting the season well, Casemiro has been offering the club less and less over the past year and a half. Maybe that is no surprise; the wear and tear on players in that most taxing defensive midfield role is considerable.
United have also dropped a contract of 350kpw on him. No doubt he is a quality player, and surprisingly only has 3 La Liga titles, but 5 CLs. It’s a step up in terms the quality of teams in the PL, and the pace of the game. All the while he will be contending with a step down in terms of the quality of players in his team.
Casemiro is a very good player. There’s no doubting that United have pulled off a very good move. Not every europa league level club can get a serial champions league winner to their side , let alone 3.
That aside , Real have probably the best midfield in World football right now and they’ve potentially improved on that with tchouameni incoming. That and the increase in games to Camavinga will allow Modric / Kroos to be shielded and rotated well.
Surprised Madrid let go of casemiro but the kind of money that they got from him is day light robbery.
Hope he does a Di Maria and flops bigtime for United.
Incredibly , United are just a Pulisic loan move from having a reasonable transfer window.
Also I do think Erik Ten Haag and his play style is reliant on him having some players of experience and good work ethic… Casemiro has that
Atleast we’ll hopefully see off united at old Trafford before he joins the team.
I’ll be pressing the panic button if Liverpool don’t win at United bigtime
Even if Tchouameni isn’t there yet. He’s only going to become better once he gets regular games. It’s a great move by Real irrespective of whether Casemiro is at his peak or not.
Selling him off for a sizable amount allows the next big talent time to come in and perform.
Casemiro is/was the best defensive midfielder in the world, but this move has all the hallmarks of a retirement job. He’s already won everything in his career, it’s hard to imagine he’ll stay as motivated at the shitshow that is United.
Even if he plays at his best there’s only so much he can do with the rubbish that he’ll be surrounded by. By the time his legs go United still won’t have their squad sorted.
The beauty is that they’ll be paying him to fade and a 4 year contract just makes zero financial sense given his age and £350k a week. One bad injury and he’s an anchor.
The challenge from Real’s perspective is it is not a club that has ever allowed a player a settling in period. With Camavinga we’ve seen a season now of impressive cameos off the bench coupled with a series of really underwhelming performances in which he started. Last week when he started in midfield with Tchouameni it wasnt until they got them both off and introduced Modric and dropped Valverde deeper that they started getting any conrol on the game. Yes it’s one game, but it’s also against lowly Almeria. Neither of those players will be afforded too many of those sorts of performances before they are written off.
I’d love both of them to be written off and then Liverpool get them on the cheap.
For me it’s like bedding in period of what vinicus faced
The Ronaldo farce. They pay him so much that nobody will even vaguely sanction a move for a player they thought would re-ignite their fire. He either takes a massive pay-cut or sulks.
Shame.
The problem is Ronaldo and all of them will play better against us because it’s a spotlight game… at least until it starts to go against them.
