When the shit hits the fan, and they've got the wrong man, that's Amorim!

A great deal of the chatter I’m seeing is based on Yoro as part of that back three.

That’s right, the 18-year-old who will be returning from a long-term injury and who has yet to set foot on a pitch in one of the most physical leagues in the world.

I don’t know about you, but I’m starting to panic about the fact that Utd might have finally got its shit together.

No pressure, Leny.

And not to mention , both Liverpool and Real wanted Yoro but not enough to pay that transfer money when he was available on a free the next season.

It might turn out to be a great move. But knowing United’s luck. Can turn out to be another disaster.

They didn’t do a good job in the last window!

The pressure is on Amorim. He can kiss his chances of managing a top club in the PL good bye if he gets fucked over by United.

There’s talk of City wanting him to replace Guardiola at some point.

And we rejected Amorim.

Remember him flirting with the west ham job later.

Having travelled around Australia this century I can confirm that yes, yes it is.

Xabi took himself out of the discussion so early I’m not even sure we’d have drafted a shortlist by then lol

And on Amorim

Sullivan made Amorim call after West Ham agreement was reached

As for Amorim, my gut is saying that while I do believe he’s a good manager, just as would have been the case with us (more so, in fact), that squad doesn’t look like a natural fit for his favoured 3-4-3 system. Bruno, in particular, doesn’t seem to fit at all, which is hilarious for a player who is their captain, one of their highest earners, and who recently signed a new long-term contract. Hope Ruben packed his crowbar!

And throw in United’s total incompetence in all things, and it doesn’t look great for him.

I look forward to dozens of Goldbridge videos claiming that the system will be the making of guys like Rashford, only for it to become clear, a few matches later, that, surprise, the system wasn’t to blame after all.

Amorim doesn’t use wingers at Sporting. He uses more of two #10s.

None of the United wingers provide that. Garnacho , Trashford , Diallo , Antony … All don’t play that way.

His wingbacks are used to provide the width and none of the United ones really do that. Their best one is Dalot who almost always inverts.

I suspect he’ll play Bruno as one of those 10s and maybe Mount as the other forward 10s with Ugarte and Mainoo as the double pivot behind them.

It’s a decent team on paper. But with absolutely no bench strength and the likes of Mount , Shaw really injury prone.

Not to mention very less pace in the United midfield and defense in the starting XI itself.

But if he does start with Bruno and Rashford or Garnacho , he’ll be going bald when those guys run around like headless chickens and refuse to help out defensively after a 20 min period where they do.

I think his preferred formation is a 3-4-2-1.

One of the Maguires (both slabby and the Dutch equivalent) have to get picked. Lisandro’s been really shit of late and then there’s Yoro, who’s 18 years old coming back from a serious injury. Another backup there is possibly Shaw who’s legs are made of matchsticks. I suppose Evans is there who’s probably their best defender at the moment but whats his age 38 ?

Serious lack of pace.

Ugarte played really well for Amorim before but he’s been bang average since. Mainoo has stagnated and he isn’t the quickest young midfielder.

The other options are a Casemiro and Eriksen. Nuff said I bet they’d love to have McTominay right now.

As far as the attacking goes , the width isn’t provided by the wingers. Loads of really bad square pegs in the round holes there.

There will be a new manager bounce. But that won’t last long seeing as they’ve got utter Deadwood in Casemiro , Antony etc in the team who they’ll struggle to get any money for.

I’d even include Rashford in the Deadwood list as he probably has a good 10 minute spell every match and goes absolutely missing for the rest of the time.

Zirkzee is a puzzling transfer. Hojlund has injury concerns written all about him.

Erik Ten Hag has fucked United really badly with his transfers. It will take them atleast 2 years to get his transfers out by which time Amorim’s job security will be under threat

There was a sporting fan who came when Amorim was being discussed. Trying to find his posts about how he would lineup had he joined Liverpool.

Crunch time for United in my book.

With Amorim’s appointment they either concede that the majority of their first team squad is unsuitable and their systems are way off

OR

they try and bend Amorim to their current thinking.

Are lobotomies still legal?

I’ll have seek EtH’s advice on this I’m afraid.

I’m glad that we got to play United away before the new manager comes on board.

He can take points away from City and Arsenal.

I can guarantee you that all the positives why we should sign him back when he was hotly linked with us in the summer , will now magically turn into negatives
