When the shit hits the fan, and they've got the wrong man, that's Amorim!

Was similar to how they kept up with the maguire delusion when he was signed and after the initial months of Ole’s ultra defensive backline.

“The problem with Maguire is Utd are using him in the wrong way”

Yeah, they are using him as a footballer when he should be in a field pulling a plough

Having grown up in what you Westerners refer to as “countryside” and done quite a lot of agricultural work in my youth, I take offence at this comparison - and so does every (other) countryside horse!

Are you moonlighting on us again, Nikola?

Nikola doesn’t make sarcasm so obvious

Amorim confirmed.

He starts 11 Nov, first match 24 Nov at Ipswich.

United’s statement;

"Manchester United is delighted to announce the appointment of Ruben Amorim as head coach of the men’s first team, subject to work visa requirements.

"He will join until June 2027 with a club option of an additional year once he has fulfilled his obligations to his current club. He will join Manchester United on Monday 11 November.

"Ruben is one of the most exciting and highly rated young coaches in European football. Highly decorated as both a player and coach, his titles include winning the Primeira Liga twice in Portugal with Sporting CP, the first of which was the club’s first title in 19 years.

“Ruud van Nistelrooy will continue to take charge of the team until Ruben joins.”

“We look forward to sacking him in the short to medium term”.

How Manchester United Destroyed Itself

So they apparently paid out ETH around £17m and now a release clause for Amorim for £9.3. That’s close to £30 just to change managers.

We paid 15m 10 years ago when we had to sack Bodgers.

So he really loves Sporting then? Yeah right.

Apparently was interested enough to even have discussions with West Ham once the Liverpool opportunity didn’t present itself.

The way Liverpool and West Ham went cold on him suggests he did not endear himself in discussions, and there was obviously something about him that put both clubs off.

It also suggests that United haven’t spotted it, or are desperate enough to just ignore it.

Personally I think he is 100% wedded to his 3-4-3 system and Liverpool and West Ham were not prepared to rip up the progress they had made in their football set ups to accommodate this.

United just seem in the wrong place for this appointment. They have a lot of deadwood to shift, and they have very little PSR room to operate (and have just lashed £30m on this change). Is Amorim really the guy you want to front the pain they are about to suffer.

Progress isn’t relevant as far as Man U are concerned, so maybe he is being given carte blanche to start afresh.

Will Amorim be in charge when Sporting get trashed by City on Tuesday?

There’s a simple heuristic you can use here:

Is that game played on or after Nov 11th?

Apparently he is supposed to be in charge through the November 10 league game versus Braga

Liverpool - he was simple one of a collection of potential candidates the club short listed and the media focus on him was more due to Sporting’s willingness to talk about the approach than the strength of his candidacy. It is pretty apparent that he was not Hughes’ preferred choice of candidates the club had short listed for him, but that should not be viewed as a negative mark against him. It certainly was not a place of him being in the driver’s seat and fucking it up with some big red flag being identified.

West Ham - he had an expensive release clause

I dont think there is too much more to read into this. It should not be a surprise that Utd pushed through the move they wanted despite it being too rich for other clubs who were also interested.

West Ham thing doesn’t make a lot of sense why he flew in.

If they knew Lisbon wasn’t budging why did he make a tit of himself flying in for 10 mins?
