What are Rashford’s wages like? I think a move would be good for him, but I suspect it’s likely that they would be paying someone to take him on at the moment.
Don’t know for sure, but I imagine he would be up there with the highest paid players in the league.
300K plus, with bonuses on top of that. Three years left on his contract after this season. At first glance, the 40M price tag is not eye-popping, but with those wages the total cost for three years is 85M+. Cannot see too many buyers for a guy who scores 8-10 goals a season on average these days.
‘It’s understood the 27-year-old’s asking price would have been as much as £100m when he scored 30 goals in Erik ten Hag’s first season at United. But Rashford’s loss of form and the contract he signed last year worth a prohibitive £325,000-a-week means that his value has more than halved.
‘Even then, United are not anticipating any offers for Rashford who has started the last two games on the bench ahead of Thursday evening’s Europa League clash with Viktoria Plzen.
‘Another option would be for United to sell either of their two crown jewels – Kobbie Mainoo or Alejandro Garnacho – but that is something the club want to avoid.’
At some point Amorim will probably whip them into shape and they will be a decent unit. But they have lots of self made problems to overcome first, and that will hinder Amorim’s effectiveness.
They have made a rod for their own back with the ridiculous wages they pay. High wages are a fact of life in elite football, but stratospheric wages for underperforming players will take a lot of time to put right. They might get lucky with Rashford and someone like PSG might come in for him. But the wages, for what he offers on the pitch, are ridiculous.
Man Utd make so much money that they have a chance to right the ship, but it will take time. They will be able to make signings as they go, but there is a definite sense that the cupboard is bare compared to before.
At just the time they land a bright young manager, they clip his wings, relatively speaking, due to the abundant financial mistakes of others.
And now Sir Jim is moving into choppy waters by sacking hourly workers and going after those at the lowest levels of the organization. It’s a PR nightmare.
Still, I’d be happy if they won, or drew, against Man City. It will give the natives false hope and send Pep deeper into a hole.
Please make sure Mo Virg and Trent don’t see this.
Thanks.
Éverton might have some money soon.
He what now?
No pressure @DarwinNúñez…
Ditto … lol
And Joey G
I can see them do a player exchange involving Rashford for PSR purpose. Either with Chelsea, Newcastle or another random club.
If Utd want to get rid of Rashford, they are going to have to almost give him away. It not just the disparity between him salary and his form of the last 12 months or so (maybe more? When was the last period of good form he had?). It is that he is one of those players so linked to a club that any attempt by that club to move him on is going to make clear to everyone that he is considered damaged goods.
This is now a rehab project, where the best case all around is he lands at Europa League team in Spain or Germany hopeful of a decent run and thinking if he comes good they can move him on for profit in 2 years back a CL side. And those moves are done for cheap.
Rookie error. No one cares about Everton.
I think the dig on them being the second team from Manchester will burn them some more.
It’s not a rookie error.
It’s a rookie error because the only people who would bring Everton up for comparison are Liverpool fans. You’ve just exposed yourself.
Nah , those cunts are too daft.
I’m safe.
Haha @mascot
The perfect crime.
