When the shit hits the fan, and they've got the wrong man, that's Amorim!

Interesting result for them. Cheaty have obviously big problems right now, but this will give them a lift and a lot of credit for Amorim, especially by turning it around so late in the game. Let’s see how it goes for them, hopefully not too well too soon. I could certainly live with a few further years of mediocrity at OT.

I estimate they have turned 4 corners so far

He dropped Rashford for a big game for some disciplinary reason that then dominated the pre-game coverage. Yet when the game went poorly he turned to to St Marcus to come off the bench who then won Utd the points with his performance.

Many in the press described it as masterful man-management - a demonstration of his authority but not in a way that cost them points. Yet it was pretty obviously a demonstration that the key players can act how they like and ultimately will be deemed too important to not play.

Ah, the Mancunian circle.

They do have their precious get out of jail free card though which is “ah but the Glaziers” Never the managers’ faults, always the owners and if we have to find a second scapegoat, blame player fc. Ralf Ranjik (spelling?) told them straight, squad needs open heart surgery. Thankfully they did fuck all about it and just kept plowing the cash into woeful players.

What they need is exactly what Klopp did. A complete squad replacement that takes years and unbelievably good sales and purchases. As there’s only one Klopp (and there’s more chance of Gary Neville winning Mr Universe than him going there) then they’re essentially fucked.

Utd have bought a lot of players since Ralf said that. The issue is they just havent got rid of that many, and I think it is pretty clear that was the real point he was making.

Outside of Pogba that summer and Ronaldo a few months into Ten Hag’s time, they really havent moved on too many players. They have a long list of old/injured players whose contracts were allowed to run down. There was Greenwood, and this summer they finally offloaded Van Der Beek and Wan Bissaka, and raised needed PSR funds with McTominay. But it was clear Ralf was talking about established senior players whose presence was detrimental. Even with all the signings they have made since they have not actually listened to what Ralf was saying.

Which was exactly my point. They didn’t like the blindingly obvious truth he told them so they kicked him out.

Yeah Amorim might be a genius but at the end of the day if they dont sort out their recruitment and contract side, they’re going no where. I’d throw Fernandes on the skip fire too.

Wasnt that long ago the Ten Hag was the man to sort things. Diddly happened.

Being honest from what i’ve seen of Ratcliffe at United so far and the odd dip into the cycling world (Ineos) i think it’s more of the same.

Speaking truth to idiots doesn’t help.

So, back to Square One.

What’s this? A Man Utd puff piece in the Guardian? Surely not…

Hilarious article. Sure lads, Jim might have spent a fortune levering Ashworth out of Newcastle only to find he hadn’t done his diligence on him and didn’t actually know what his skillset was, but removing him at the cost of £5m quid after three months is a show of strength. I’d call it a show of incompetence, but each to their own.

As for Rashford, the lad is on £375k a year until 2028. I suspect the only way United get him out of the door is to swallow those wages. Strong leadership. Cultural reset. Etc

Jamie Jackson has always been a bit of a joke, he just always publishes whatever United ask him to it seems.

By the way, my fag packet maths (which I suspect is significantly more diligence than Utd manage) puts their remaining outlay on the Rashford contract at around £72m.

Good luck boys.

Not to mention whatever that was they did with ETH.

2 month process, several managers approached only to agree to him staying and giving him an extended contract.

And it’s not like Amorim wasn’t available in the summer… he nearly ended up at West Ham for god’s sake!

But mate, they conducted an exhaustive manager review in the summer, concluding that they already had the best candidate in post. Why else would they have extended his contract and given him more money to spend?
