When the shit hits the fan, and they've got the wrong man, that's Amorim!

Anthony is on 200k a week until June 2027. :joy:

Actually, I think the best bit is now that they have pushed these puff pieces out the door at Rashford’s expense, he will be thoroughly demotivated and feel no loyalty to the club whatsoever. Probably quite happy to take the Ā£72M you note and be a prominent malcontent.

They will end up paying him £72M to play for someone else.

Rahfords had one good season.

He should have left ManU at least 5 years ago. The carousel of managers, most of whom with minimal interest in player development, saw him spend his prime development years incoherently, and he is basically the same player he was at 22 - just less enthusiastic. He never turned into the player he could have been

It was mostly consistency.

You felt all the time like he had a never ending circle of: good season, bad season. Or good part of the season, bad part of the season.

Was never able to remain at a really high level for longer spells, two seasons in a row or more, etc. But he did have those periods, that’s for sure.

Fully understand why he didn’t move earlier though.

Maybe the time has come for a new challenge, but he’s got a bit more than 3 more years on his contract also having top wages.

Yeah, being made to play through those injuries didn’t help him.

Wasn’t there a game against us he was rushed back for only to hobble off again?

They set up Ashworth to fail. He didnt start until July1, and given the whole fight over the Newcastle exit wasnt in the position to get an early unofficial start on the job the way Bournemouth allowed Hughes to do. That was always going to be a tricky situation when there is an expectation the manager will be fired. The existing team may have reasonably concluded that the only decision to be made was who the new manager would be, but felt that decision needed to be taken by the incoming Sporting Director. So what it seems Berarda and Wilcox started the search process for the new guy, only when Ashworth came in and evaluated what they had dug up he was not impressed by it so decided staying the course and backing the current guy was the best option. His bosses then said ā€œI know we all said you’d have autonomy, but not like that. When we mean it is your decision, we mean it is your decision as long as it agrees with usā€ and realized if that was how they were going to run the club they didnt need him. So they fired him and went ahead with the decision they’d have preferred for him to make.

It really is a fairly standard story of corporate failure caused by executives who cannot delegate or leave their direct reports to do the jobs they were hired to do.

It looks to me as if Rashford is getting a bit of a caning. They have had tons of problems from the top to the bottom, but he seems to be the focal point for a lot of frustration. Yes, too much money for the output. But it is a tiny fraction of what the Glazer’s have taken out of the club, and how much they have lumbered them with piling on all that debt while the infrastructure crumbles.

Sir Jim riding in to the rescue is also problematic, and he seems to be shitting on his own doorstep with going after hourly workers and low paid staff.

So yeah, let’s get Rashford, he’s the problem!

I hope he has a thick skin and takes his dough from them. On a human level I do hope he finds a new club, while Man Utd pay his wages, and he rediscovers some form and joy for it all again.

Yes, he is nowhere near value for money for those wages, but it is a convenient distraction for far bigger problems at that club.

It’s starting to feel like its fait accompli and everyone is now just using the media to help grease the wheels

Please please please let Arsenal make a move for him.

Honestly don’t think there will be much interest in Rashford.

Maybe Newcastle?!

ā€œYou’re not going to have any negative comments from me about Manchester United.ā€ - oh yeah ? We’ll see …

Can’t escape the feeling that St.Marcus has taken the club and its supporters for a ride for at least the last five years.

I listened to a couple of interviews with Phil Jones the other week. In one of them Rio asked him for his opinion on where things went wrong, and how the club changed in the years after Fergie left. Jones was a diplomatic so didn’t say much, but Rio says he raised it because of a time he got angry and seeing some of the young players on the team posting this sort of nonsense on SM when they were way off the pace in the league and their last result was shit. He called Rooney to ask WTF was happening and how he was letting them get away with it and says Wayne responded by saying they are bunch of cunts that cannot be managed :joy:

Maybe City?

Joking.

Big transfers between PL clubs is not so rare these days due to well known regulations and money in the league.

But in this case, perhaps he’ll go outside of England. F*ck knows where though, don’t think there is a need or willingness for Rashford from a PSG anymore.

Remember Keane saying something similar even further back, shortly before he left/was forced out, basically called the youth players a bunch of horrible entitled shits lol
