Great, isn’t it?
No. The Premier League needs a strong Manchester United.
The only way forward for them, would be a long term sacrifice of reducing the base wage that they offer and switch focus to incentive based pay - similar to how FSG restructured our wages back in 2010, but it will take time as many of the current squad are on wages far over the top for their ability and professionalism, so no club in their right mind will take them on.
Like we did with Joe Cole, it will take a number of loans to run these contracts down and let this shower of shite go on freebies while focusing on young and hungry players that will want to prove a point, so will take a lower base salary with bonuses for winning things
I’ve done the rounds this morning and am laughing my arse off at the many, “this cannot happen, we’re Manchester United” types.
Newsflash dickheads…it is happening.
Just remembering the drooling after the first training sessions and how Amorin is the guy… look they are running. Lol. And then an interview on the lines of they are going to suffer for long period. Well he’s got that one right and hope it’s the only one.
You answered your own question.
Funnily enough , I was trying to explain to my 12yr old (French) daughter (and her mum) , who already has enough of an interest in English football to know that Man Utd should not be getting beat 2-0 by a very poor Wolves side , just how this giant club has sunk so low.
I spoke about Fergie’s toxic legacy and those entitled pricks who pretend to be pundits just adding to the stink created by the Glazers. Then I was reminded of Ed Woodward’s bolshy claim about doing things in the transfer market that other clubs could only dream of and explained how everyone else heard that loud and clear and have been rinsing them ever since.
Last night their line-up was missing Casemiro , Rashford , Antony and also Fernandes (once the prick had been sent off). If I’m not mistaken , that’s over £1m a week for four players who are absolutely toxic and shouldn’t be anywhere near the team.
And that’s not to mention the likes of Cavani , Ronaldo , de Maria … and all the rest of 'em that went before.
I don’t think it’s any exaggeration to say that Man Utd have been the worst run club in world football in the last ten years. And the truly amazing thing is is that their supposed messiah , Sir Jim , looks just as clueless as what came before.
The rest of your post was superfluous.
At this rate, Amorim won’t last until March. We’re watching a real-time sequel to “The Damned United”.
If he loses the next 2 (Sandcastle and us), could he be gone before the FA Cup?
Nah. Man U are not a sacking club.
The ‘toxic’ problem is self-perpetuating. Rashford has learned his attitude at ManU. Casemiro is/was a great professional, if he has developed a poor mentality that is a function of the ManU environment. Once you have an environment that is doing that, it is not going to be a one step process to reverse.
In that sense, maybe we don’t give Dalglish or Rodgers enough credit for what they did manage to do, instead focusing on what they didn’t achieve. Klopp did not inherit a vastly talented side, but he did inherit the toxic waste dump Amorim is dealing with either. That only underscores the difference between hiring Amorim, the newest shiny object ManU could see, and someone like Klopp who had been through it all at Dortmund
There is a certain sense in “the club” backing the manager seeing as they just hired him, but the faith that currently exists that if backed and given time he is sure to turn it around and get it right is gloriously naïve. Why? Because in his short career he won a couple of a titles in a 3 team league at a time when 2 of the others were in financial difficulty? When the club he came into had already been picked up out of the doldrums and stabilized by the previous guy? Right now the players look like shit, but many of the players that have come through these halls and failed miserably in recent years, including many there now, have competed at the highest level and won things elsewhere. It is far too easy to just point to the players and say they need to be changed and doing that will fix it. Even before you ignore the financial difficulty they are now in from their years of thinking that just buying one more expensive player was the solution to their malaise.
The club being toxic is a nebulous idea, but if we accept it is true it wasnt caused by Ten Hag. Maybe it is possible that while it was not his fault he lacked the ability to exorcise it in a way that maybe Amorim will have the ability to do. But here we are putting our faith in a man who has never done anything like that at all to do the most enormous job in football, that will necessitate a period of stabilization with periods of falling further back where they remain way off the pace, all at a club where the expectation is unrealistic for where they currently are, and without a track record of success to use to assuage concerns that it isnt going in the right direction when they have to explain away a 3rd consecutive finish out of the CL places
It’s hardly the slam dunk so many are pointing to the appointment as being.
I’m wondering this.
Can’t think of such a start that then has led to a glorious era. Klopp’s was up and down but he got a couple of stunning results early on. Remember his win against Man City.
Then again Klopp had achieved something against the odds twice in Germany.
Sort of why I was a bit more comfortable about Slot, Twente were toe to toe with Ajax that covid season.
As an appointment, it really is Ten Hag 2.0. Success in a European league, some promise shown, the Next Big Thing. Maybe he will be, both Amorim and Ten Hag both came into the position needing to learn on the job. Doesn’t suggest a lot of learning going on elsewhere in that club.
I do think the Rashford thing is going to bite to bite him in the ass. Seems a bit too much pound-shop Mourinho, it doesn’t seem to be producing a response from the team and Rashford seems pretty clearly to believe he is being arbitrarily scapegoated
If your dressing room is toxic, your captain has to go. It’s really that simple.
Also hate this whole “rashford has to fight for his spot” shit from Amorium. Rashford is one of the highest paid earners in the premier league. If he’s not training like a professional on his wages should be, then just pull a Maresca with sterling and say you’re not welcome here. Find a new club. Going back and forth in the media like rashford can find a way back just makes him look weak. He’s picked his scapegoat, he needs to have some ruthlessness and burying him at this point
As has been said many times before.
It was incumbent on Fergy to begin refreshing the squad etc before he called it quits. Instead he went for one last trophy while not refreshing the squad.
Predictably , the core of fergy’s team took a big downfall. Fergy couldnt be bothered. Fergy had ample time to rebuild the squad which would have made it easier for the managers after him.
Long may United rot. There’s still 10-15 more years of pain (hopefully) for their fans with a few false dawns here and there only serving to prolong their misery.
They will spend the next 4 years buying players for whatever peculiar formation Amorim seems to amour. After that crashes and burns, they will spend the next 4 years unwinding it all. Rashford will still be there.
When it’s the formation you love
And water drips from above
That’s Amorim
Don’t give up the day job.
Whatever that is.
I some how managed to catch Talk "Shite"Sport this morning and Alex Crook made a point i made before and its one of the reasons Ive got no sympathy for Almorim. In the summer when United were effectively looking to replace Ten Hag they got offered Almorim and made the decision that Ten Hag was the better option. Roll on 4 months Ten Hag is gone and now Almorim is the great savior nothing like feeling like sloopy seconds.
