When the shit hits the fan, and they've got the wrong man, that's Amorim!

It’s that same trait, used players in a system unsuited to them (substitute that high defensive line for 3 at the back).

Can’t get around the fact that they have bought shockingly badly over an extended period of time. But no attempt to at least tread water until the postseason. He probably shouldn’t have come until the end of the season.

It’s Disneyland.

No matter how much they suck , they are going to get the commercial revenue (for the foreseeable future).

Everything they do is geared towards them maximising that.

Rather ironic isn’t it. This is what I remember we used to moan about the Mancs having an undeniable advantage over us in the transfer market. We got left behind at the advent of the PL by their commercial dealings (and our decline on the pitch).
But that frankly monstrous commercial success attracted the likes of the Glazers who started that rot

Goldbridge having a serious conversation about the chances of ManU getting relegated is peak Glazers.

At least thus far.

Amorim probably has a weaker squad than what Klopp had when he took over Liverpool.

Not in the sense of talent or money spent etc. Amorim’s got relics from Fergy era United and onwards. Different players bought for totally different systems with no coherence about the team at all.

Liverpool did make steps towards going for a Klopp system of play with Rodgers in terms of hiring etc. The experiment wwith Rodgers failed but there were some players within the initial team who had what was needed to perform in a Klopp team. Firmino, Coutinho, Can etc. Also looking at the likes off Lallana, Hendo & Milly. It’s easier to get replacements for some players when there are atleast 4-5 players (even if only for the short term) that have their positions in the side largely aligning with how Klopp wanted them to play.

You can look at Amorim’s team and all you see are square pegs for round holes. Not one of them would be an amorim 's kind of player (Maybe Ugarte at the max)

Which further excacerbates their problem because now they have brought in a manager who seems unwilling or unable to adapt to what his team can play. Building experience of the new system into the current squad may help those who will stay beyond next summer - but who will that be?

Switching up formations will also mean the club is even more reliant on the club’s recruitment to fix things now with even less margin for error - having to identify and sign players who can play Amorim’s system comfortably is presumably a little bit harder than finding people to play well in a 433?

I see Maguire, Lindelof and Evans contracts are all due to expire next summer. I wonder if all three will be released giving them almost a clean sweep at rebuilding CB options (presumably Martinez, Yoro and the young Dutch lad will be retained)?

Also there’s a difference in implementing a game style at Sporting and implementing the same gamestyle at United. It’s far too early to say whether Amorim’s going to suceed or not in United. But he’s not had a preseason, the caliber of players required to compete in the premier league is by and large more than the caliber of players who are needed in Sporting. And United have spent badly and don’t have the same weight in transfers that they did before. Bless you Ed and ETH.

Martinez is shit. De Ligt is average and Yoro’s a kid.

At this point, renewing Slabby’s contract makes him their best defender.

They still have a luke shaw problem to deal with too. They can probably put him as a CB (for the few minutes that he does play before getting injured)

And one of best things is that they got rid of two of their hardest working midfielders(Fred and McTom) and got in the likes of Casemiro and Eriksen.

The gift. The absolute gift. Fred would have done a very fine job for them.

Rashford is not performing commensurate with his salary, but on the other hand, the salary Utd gave him was never commensurate with his talent. You can’t make someone automatically world class by putting them on £350k a week.

That said, Amorim’s approach to Rashford is really quite disgraceful. I’m fucking overjoyed we swerved him.

I’ve no problem with him casting aside under performing players, but for fucks sake, there are a dozen lads at Utd who could be similarly called out.

I don’t like the tactic of excessively bullying one player to try and set standards with the rest. It’s a shithouse move straight from the Mourinho school.

While Bruno Fernandes is still the Utd Captain and an automatic starter, in makes zero sense to single out Rashford.

I think at this point. It’s the club pushing Rashford out. They’ve seen him fall out with multiple managers before. I doubt it’s anything that Amorim has in his power.

The PR that the club floats around Rashford (either positive or negative) is complete bollocks. Think there’s a deal to be done in Saudi which gets them that money. The groundwork to that deal is the club floating these rumours about. Mainly to get the public on their side. It’s something all clubs have done when it comes to fan favourites wanting to get out.

This. Should have stuck with ETH or even Van Nistlelrooy and planned a proper transition that gave Amorim a pre-season and at least some players he needs to play the way he wants. Bringing him in now, without any of that in place, had made it much more difficult for him and risks the fans turning on him before he’s been given a fair chance.

Seems like at this point it’s a pattern at Utd:

Mourinho → Shaw
ETH → Sancho
Amorim → Rashford

It’s utterly idiotic…and delicious :smiling_imp:

And look who won out in the first 2 scenarios.

If I were Amorim, I’d be asking descreetly around the city if anyone could stage ‘an accident’ otherwise you know your goose is already cooked.

Commentators keep talking about Man U needing legs in midfield.

Uhh Ugarte wasn’t exactly brought in for his silky skills.

Ugarte seems to be rather like a poor man’s fabinho. It might have worked out for him in the Portugese league but might not work out for him here.

He’s probably the best of the United midfield so far and that’s as much about how Mainoo has stagnated. Mainoo isn’t the quickest around as well.

If you had told me 11(!) years ago the last Ferguson player left at ManU would be Jonny Evans, I would have laughed. If you had suggested it was over a decade later…
