When the shit hits the fan, and they've got the wrong man, that's Amorim!

They’ve turned into Everton so I have concerns about any rugby score predictions.

Comfortable win will do me fine, well a win will.

Just ignore @ShadesOfRed. Something has gotten into him. I’ll have a word.

Great start

Makes me think of a disallowed goals of the season thread.

0-2 down at home against Newcastle. Sack the manager?

Another £500m needed for the new manager to be able to implement his style.

Endless unwanted players hanging around or out on loan as no one will either stump up any kind of fee or the players prefer to sit around and getting their silly wages.

Old Trafford continuing to fall into disrepair as Ratcliffe desperately tries to get anyone but him to pay to sort the shit hole out.

Penny pinching from the everyday staff. Continually making PR gaff after PR gaff just eroding the reputation and morale of the club.

Long may it continue.

This was the last line up of the Rodgers era that Klopp would inherit

Liverpool :
Mignolet,
Can, Skrtel, Sakho,
Clyne, Milner, Lucas, Moreno,
Coutinho,
Sturridge, Ings.

Subs : Gomez, Lallana, Allen, Origi, Ibe, Bogdan, Rossiter.

You cannot tell me there is more there than what Amorim has to work with, and within 2 games it was absolutely clear Klopp had effectively conveyed to a limited group of players what he expected of them. Players who were square pegs in round holes still did their jobs. Yes we have mocked Utd as a club for being directionless and buying a hodgepodge of players, but we’re about 10 games in now and I see absolutely no evidence of quality training ground work reflected in these games.

Imagine the cheats being sent down and the 3-4-3 sending the Macs down.

Uh oh

Amorim when asked about whether he could have made strategic changes: “We don’t have the base of players. It’s more on the players belief than anything I could do.”

The fact they’ve hired a guy mid-season who plays a completely different style and set up to his predecessor tells you all you need to know about the dysfunction at that club.

I mean, they bought two new centre backs in the summer, neither of whom has really played much in a back three and Amorin is now stuck trying to coach them into a new way of playing with a game every 3-4 days.

I think he’s a decent coach but he’s going to need time, and a lot of transfer budget, to right the ship.

Everything they’ve done since Fergie left is just highlighting how poorly run they were behind the scenes and how much was down to him holding things together.

Well actually, there is more there than what Amorim has to work with.

The end of the bench is quite forgettable, but for the rest it’s a decent base who had been paying under a single manager for years, relatively successfully.

We can entertain the opposite scenario: what would have Klopp been able yo do with this United team? Better than Amorim for sure, but not much more I’d imagine.

Unfortunately for him, Amorim has had only 4 training sessions. That, combined with a poor squad unsuited to his system, puts him in a pickle. I’d agree that this United team also wouldn’t be able to physically cope with Klopp’s system after 4 sessions. Amorim seems insistent on implementing his own system. He probably has INEOS’ backing that he’s around for the duration needed to do so. But if he gets in a relegation scrap, the pressure can change all that. Klopp, on the other hand, proved his pragmatism when we ran out of players and used 18 CB pairings in 2021. Not sure Amorim could or is even willing to do that.

Klopp definitely had more to work with. The team sheet you listed is obv poor but there were good characters in that squad. Hendo and Bobby were there also. Those two plus Coutinho and Sturridge (at the time) were better than anyone in the current United squad.

Then he could sell Cout for ridiculous money and invested that incredibly well. Who would want to buy any of their shite?

Also, Amorim is no Klopp.

Basically they’re fucked.

Kind of fun to check odds. United 67/1 to go down. City 12/1.

I missed the game but this is hilarious

Poor lad always starts off so brightly.

He’s talking about a relegation battle. Something that they are totally ill equipped for where you would feel several sides down there are.

Whatever system or style goes out of the window. Ultimately if he only has one system and is rigid to that he isn’t going reach the top of world football.
