Absolutely
Also, the money.
Absolutely
Also, the money.
The money could be itā¦but isnāt Mr Handwash cutting all expenditureā¦so could other players be goingā¦but if the manager in situe thinks theyāre crap thereās not much confidence thereā¦so why would anyone go to this Manky clubā¦
In a typical 3-4-3, you have wingbacks that play higher up. Typically, those are speedier, quicker guys without as much defensive responsibility as fullbacks but more than wingers. They donāt really have that on either side. Dalot maybe, Massouri is more of a traditional fullback and thereās nobody on the left side.
The midfield two typically sit further back, though one will usually be more of a box to box midfielder. I think Mainoo and Ugarte can play this. Likewise, I think their CBs are fine in a three, if not being the most talented crew. Those areas are fine.
Up top, the forwards play more of an inverted role. Amad is good, Garnacho is good but heās on his way out, and Rashford would be too but heās also gone. Sancho can fit that role. The number nine could be either an out and out striker or a false nine. Both Hojlund and Zirkzee are more up top strikers, though Zirkzee could come back into the Firmino roll. His problem is heās just not good enough. On raw talent, I rate Hojlund. I thought he would have been great with us. His problem is that heās starving. There is very little creative talent to create chances for him.
Which brings us to Fernandez. Heās a slimy little weasel, but heās also their most creative player. He also works harder than most think. Heās best utilized as a 10 sitting behind the striker. But Amorimās system has him more as an inverted forward coming out of the half spaces. He should really be sitting more in central areas. ETH had him playing as a winger at times, and I donāt think Amorimās system is the best use of his talent.
Which brings us back to Amorimās system. OTOH, you have to admire someone who sticks to his principles and attempts to impose a discipline and style of play. OTOH, imposing a rigid ideology may take longer than the time he has to turn things around.
When Klopp came, his style of play wasnāt a formation. It was an ethos of working hard, running all day and gegenpressing. He modified his tactics and philosophy over time, recognizing that the PL was a different league, and his players may have different strengths and weaknesses to exploit. Similarly, when Slott was appointed, he played down formations when we have the ball but said he is pretty dogmatic when defending. You can see that during the matches. His tactical tweaks at halftime usually make us better. Finally, the most successful manager over the past decade has been Pep, and his side today look night and day compared to his sides in his first few years in the PL. He has gone from super exciting to super boring in nine years.
I have no faith that INEOS can get things done. A ManU manager saying they are in a relegation fight and itās the worst team ever is damn funny if you ask me.
I can understand why a kid making Ā£5k a week being offered Ā£50k a week would jump at the chance. Thatās literally life changing money. Even if youāre a bust, you can set yourself and your family up for life if youāre there for a few years.
Peak INEOS right there
You guys are only partially correct about the big money being the lure for managers to Man United, but itās not just that. Good managers will always back themselves, and if they feel that they could be the one to turn Man United around and get them back to the top, they know theyād be revered as an all-time great.
Klopp was able to do that at Liverpool despite many failing before him. United will always attract decent manager because of that.
Klopp rejected United because he saw what it actually was.
United will attract the flavours. But they donāt have the structure.
Liverpool even before hiring Klopp had the structure with Edwards and Co which made Kloppās decision easier.
You love to see their struggles (the old fellaās ticket needs sorting out, donāt wish that sort of stuff on anyone).
But the struggles throughout the club - ownership, suits, recruitment, players, system, value for money⦠and a coach who is happy to throw everyone under the bus?
This last part seems stupid, unless he is hoping to be sacked and get out of there with a nice payoff. Apart from that, I donāt understand his angle. It is self-defeating.
Clearly they arenāt going to buy a new squad in one fell swoop. He is going to have to work with what heās got and change it as he goes, same as everyone.
Looking at them for over ten years since Ferguson, I would make a case that Moyes might have been the best one theyāve had, but expectations were still so high when he was there, so they booted him out quickly.
And stumbled from bad to worse sinceā¦
I genuinely have bigger concerns at the moment but I was merely pointing out that this might signal a change in their thinking - which could be concerning given that I think that this hierarchy will persevere with Amorim and give him all the help that he can get. I donāt know much about Dorgu, only what Iāve read about him.
Also, no disrespect meant but if a player like Kerkez would rather join Man United than Liverpool (or Arsenal or Man City) at this moment, then that player probably wasnāt the right fit for Liverpool. I donāt think that Man United were a rival for his signature (I also think heās incorrectly labeled as a Man United fan, which might have led to those links).
All players are money and trophy fans.
Everyone thinks this about Dortmund. The CL run helped comfort those when in reality theyāve been shit for some years not shit shit but this just very average shit.
As for Man Utd learning theyāve appointed a manager who has thrown the whole team under a bus.
That 18 year old defender wasnāt a bad signing. Not every signing they make is bad but until they always combine the decent moves with several horseshite ones.
Yeah ā¦I supposeā¦take your money, make your moneyā¦n then drop ashit bomb and leaveā¦

Edit
There is a poll in the comments "Who do you reckon cried?"
Is āAmorimā a valid answer?
In my mind their issues are related purely to attitide. They have at least 5 players on the pitch at any one time that cant be asked. They donāt run, thereās no pressure on the ball and they let runners go.
Its as if the ego of Fernandes has permeated right through the squad.
