When the shit hits the fan, and they've got the wrong man, that's Amorim!

What did people expect in his first press conference after Ipswich this is shit but expect worse im sure that motivated players .

Yeah ā€œthis is the worst Manchester United side everā€.

Motivational speech there.

You might be right. INEOS has gone through six managers in six years at Nice.

This would have been far more enjoyable if we hadn’t managed to drop 2 points against them at Anfield, no less.

Worst result of the season, that one.

I don’t recall there being such a wage problem as United have right now when FSG took over Liverpool. Joe Cole, Gerrard, Carra, maybe Mascherano? Glen Johnson? Outside that, there was a massive dropoff in terms of wages and player value.

A lot of the overturn our club needed happened organically as the club was asset stripped, just out of the need to survive. United didn’t really ever reach a perilous point financially so they never made those moves naturally earlier.

Mentioned right at the beginning of Amorim’s stint, that he would fail.

As a coach you have to be adaptable in the way you setup, yes any formation can morph as a game fluctuates, but you still have to go with a formation that matches your players. Also, a 3 5 2 formation isn’t the norm, so finding the right players is harder.

We also had the likes of Jovanovic, Poulsen, Konchesky, Meireles still on the books, I’m not sure what they were earning but they would certainly have fallen below FSG’s threshold of being worth what we were paying them.

Paying him 1p was over FSG’s threshold of being worth what we paid him

Slightly different issue isnt it? Utd’s problem is not debt or lack of revenue but spending limits imposed on clubs under FFP?

I’m wondering is the tea lady and Christmas bonus covered by FFP?

The numbers weren’t as big, but neither was the revenue. Wages as percentage of revenue peaked at 73% in FSG’s first year, because they knew they had to pay keep key players but were stuck with some terrible contracts. ManU still hasn’t hit 70%

Jurgen Klopp lost less times at Old Trafford than Amorin has

I actually said the same when he was at Bologna.

Haven’t seen him at Bologna, so won’t comment.

Feel sorry for him though. Clearly isn’t a #9.

Not sure he’s EPL level though.

Firmino and Zirkzee are both such unusual players that one is drawn to a comparison despite major differences. But both have a remarkable sense of space, and Zirkzee was showing some gorgeous passing at Bologna that was what made me think of Firmino at the time. Zirkzee didn’t look like a natural scorer, he was just there at the right time. Neither are blazingly fast. When Firmino first arrived from Hoffenheim, lots of people were trying to figure out where he would fit.

Zirkzee’s misfortune is that he has landed in a worse situation than Firmino did with Rodgers at LFC, which is really saying something considering Rodgers was gone three months into Firmino’s first season.

Basically now all he needs is a Klopp type figure who works with him and moulds him into a forward you can rely on, one who encourages and nurtures him and doesn’t call him part of the worst Man Utd side in history.

Ohhh

I think there’s a quality player in him but he doesn’t look suited to this Man United side. Then again, which player does… His technical ability is insane but he strikes me more as a player who would have been Yaya Toure’s heir apparent 15 years ago.

Maybe he comes good at Man United but if I was him, I’d look to return to Serie A.
