When the shit hits the fan, and they've got the wrong man, that's Amorim!

The gang loses all four

Hence my question as my doubts about Amorim is deeply seated.
Good but not great, and highly overhyped.

“You’ve been in the WhatsApp (group) for years, banter, sending people pictures and all sorts, you guys would have a field day,” he says with a laugh.

“I remember sitting in the bedroom, going like: ‘Lads, it’s been a pleasure and blah, blah, blah. Some I’ve played with a lot, some I’ve only just met, but it’s been an absolute pleasure. I wish you all the best and I’ll be your biggest supporter’.”

“I gave it a minute and there was no response. Gone, gone, gone, I’m gone! No one cares. But that’s it. It’s football. Things move so quickly.”

‘Who the fuck is Phil Jones?’

Yeah don’t most people have this once they leave a workplace?

Football isnt a normal job though. It is one that defines the identity of most people who play, which is why it leaves such a void when people are forced to finally walk away from it. It would be healthier if this werent the case, but most the players who have no issue like this once they walked away were the ones who didnt really like the game that much and just did it as a job.

Yeah, all joking about his odd faces aside, it is a tough transition for a lot of athletes.

Reminds me of that anecdote bout Mané asking a team mate who Buvac was when they announced his resignation in the dressing room

Do have my sympathies with Jones though. His injuries derailed his career.

Does happen elsewhere, football is somewhat unique because retirement doesn’t happen in your 60s

If you read the BBC gossip pages, Man U are buying heaps of players, just a couple of questions, where are they getting the money from and why would anyone play for them being 13th in the league

For several seasons they’ve outlined who they will buy and what for

The player usually arrives for a lot more than they planned. I think it even happened this past January

They sign players that the media identify that other better teams are supposedly interested in, that don’t suit their system and then sign them for way over the going price.

And long may it continue

With all the free time and resources they have, I think anyone not earnestly preparing for that transition before it arrives needs to have a good hard look in the mirror.

It is beyond ridiculous that a multi-billionaire needs public money for his personal vanity project. The fact that he’s a tax exile makes it even worse.

Isnt this how it works?

“I prefer to spend your money than my own”

Financially etc, that can be done. But emotionally, form of life, etc, I think it is difficult to prepare oneself.
