Haha, I remember that.
Theyâre going to spawn getting a UCL place via winning the Europa League at a time when they really need the money too. Absolutely sickening. My only hope is that theyâll struggle to balance the demands of Champions League and Premier League football, and itâll be a one-off appearance.
Read an article earlier today that states Ratcliffe, is ready to sell, as Saudi interest emerges.
Will see if this gains traction before posting more
I thought that was regarding Nice?
Whatâs the opposite of a pump and dump?
We can always hope that their players have a salary bonus (if they qualify for UCL). Hopefully the players all get a 50% fee hike when they do get to the UCL negating the entire money.
Great point! It might be negated by sponsorship deals increasing with UCL clauses, but it would make it more difficult to offload some of those players unless the Saudi Pro League came along to help out.
They need money, but they also need time, and a reset. Maybe something that forces/allows them to change the profile of the sort of player they are looking for. I just think the pressure of not embarrassing themselves in the CL will push them in the wrong direction with their transfers and keep them in this same cycle of thinking all it takes is one more high priced high profile singing to turn it around only to watch them be completely the wrong player.
I was talking to my Utd supporting uncle this week, a âDuncan Edwards was the best player I ever sawâ old schooler, and he is fully on board with this idea, surprisingly to me. Itâs not a one year project to get back to something even respectable and they need to stop trying to short cuts. They are very much in the needing players willing to push the bus stage of their development and the lack of CL football is a decent test of that mentality.
I remember Klopp talking about this, but it was something about the 2016/17 season, when we had no European football, and the training time during the week was absolutely crucial in getting his concepts across. Then when we secured UCL football, and had less training time the following years, the bulk of the squad already had that training time from 16/17 to grasp his methods, so we could still play how we wanted, and develop much faster.
Your uncle is definitely onto something. We had a decent squad on paper, with players like Lallana, Milner, Henderson, Can, Lucas, Firmino, who could put in the hard yards when required. Man Utd donât even have that. They have a huge problem with players downing tools when the going gets tough. Whether they will get those players in this summer or, like you say, the CL may push them in the wrong direction regarding their recruitment will definitely be one to watch should they spawn their way to the Europa League.
Also we could afford to have an odd transfer failure under Klopp.
Manures literally need every one of their main transfers to work. Not be average. To work from day 1.
Fuck them.
Harry is now their best striker and RWer. If only it was possible for him to be able to get on the end of his own crosses
But still their worst âdefenderâ.
If they are targeting players like Mbeumo, does it mean that theyâve finally learned their lesson?
Mbeumo is a weird one.
I was slightly afraid that the likes of Bowen or Mbeumo (more the latter due to his age) would be our targets if Salah left at a certain point. But then also, you have players of similar profiles and from similar levels going up and proving themselves. Not all though, thatâs my point.
He doesnât seem like a proper winger, but not a striker either. Someone who would be best in that inside right channel, between a wide forward and a second striker.
Wonder how good he can be at a better side than Brentford, which United are not by the way.
Read a recent article that weâve considered Mbeumo, but wondered how better he could be surrounded by better team mates. Exactly how I feel.
That appears to be what Amorim is looking for with his 2 behind the striker so you can see the sense in this link.
As for Utd not being better than his current side, the Brentford were serenading Erikson when he was warming up with âyou should have stayed at a big clubâ
But then also, if he plans to bring Mbeumo, Cunha and Osimhen (as a front 3)⌠does he plan to drop Fernandes as one of the two double-pivots?
That seems too open to me.
Presumably its 2 of 3 from that list, or perhaps one to be in reserve?
With a proper striker in place, that double 10 role is also where Zirkee would be most likely to thrive. So you could argue that with as much as they have to do elsewhere, trying to get by this season with Zirkzee, Bruno, Mount, and maybe Dalio would be best for them. Itâd be far better for them to spend money on a proper striker, a good DM and new goalie.
