Where is the Adidas Kit Money, John?

Seeing as the contract with Nike ends on 31.07 do you think they are allowed to show the new kit before then - or nothing until 01.08 and thats the pre-order date?

I don’t think anything will be shown before August.

I don’t know the complexities of the deal, but from the outside looking in it seems a bit amateurish to have a kit deal expire at the end of July.

Whoever signed off on the timing not he Nike deal made a mistake, in my opinion (unless there was a substantial financial reason to it that we don’t know about).

Kit deals and related shirt sponsorship deals should begin when the transfer window opens, as that is the time when the focus starts to shift to the next season.

Nike had a lot of great coverage from the champions. Presumably it was very good for them. New signings and all the activities of preseason - games, tours, training - should go to the new manufaturer/sponsors.

The kit deal was signed years before when we’d know the transfer window dates for the year the deal is due to expire.

This is a non issue. It has not impacted us doing the business we wanted to do. It made no impact on the deal Adidas were willing to do with us.

Yeah the reaction to this has been highly amusing and slightly odd and feels like it’s replacing the usual moan about spending.

I remember the New Balance one having a similar lag.

Presumably Adidas would have preferred the new signings to be unveiled in their kit for the new season ahead? And presumably they would have preferred to have their kits on sale 4-6 weeks earlier, for the new season ahead?

As for the timing, if the dates of future transfer windows are not known, it can easily be pegged to the event of the transfer window opening, not a particular date.

There’s a big buzz around the club right now. As a single customer (or two, as I will probably go with my lad) I would love to go and get the new Adidas stuff right now for the new season.

Not a big deal, we can wait.

Just seems a missed opportunity with the close of the old kit deal not coinciding with the close of the old season.

There are provisions in place to buy out the remaining portion of the deal if getting their contract started in time to associate themselves with official unveiling of new singings was important to them. Presumably Adidas didnt care that much about it

It’s a legacy of the disrupted Covid Season I think?

Yep, with the end of the league delayed due to Covid, Nike allowed us to delay the start of our new deal with them, so we could win the league in our New Balance, which was pretty decent of them to be fair.

I heard there’s an LFC shop opened up in Copenhagen. Are these club specific shops becoming more common? I vaguely remember seeing a PSG shop somewhere in NYC.

It feels like PSG are pretty far ahead of other clubs in the US as far as a fashionable brand appealing to people who don’t really watch football. I suppose that’s partly because of the Air Jordan association (though I think they’re just plain old Nike these days?).

Meh…

Over designed. Don’t like the black on the collar etc and the red under the arms is ugly too.
Keep it simple!

Red and black on a Liverpool kit? The shield with the badge looks bad too.

Just about to say the same. The collar is far to Mancunian for me

Is the Green one still the third shirt.

As it seems, yes, I haven’t heard anything else.
