He was big-dick swinging in December, but probably earlier. Anyone else wanna lay their cards on the table and earn everlasting glory and my undying admiration?
I knew we would be the best team, but thought we’d be even more robbed than we have been. I don’t think anyone foresaw how utterly shite City would be.
I’ll not let Cynicaloldgit take this. I remember his words, he went on about refs going to stop us and blah blah, while I just merely used my arcane might like any sensible person would. So nah, @cynicaloldgit , not good enough; not close enough for Rock n’ Roll
I don’t know if I outright called a title, but I always strongly rejected the idea that seemed so common among our fans and the pundits that this would be a transitional season. We had a very good side last season, one that seemed likely to improve again just as a natural part of its trajectory, which if we take Klopp at his word was why he picked last year to walk away - he wanted to hand over a side that was ready to compete for everything. It seemed pretty clear we had that.
I’ll get my hands up. Never would I have imagined this season panning out like that. Especially Cheaty imploding in such a spectacular way wasn’t on my cards.
Slot has surprised me massively, and I’m ready to own up for it. I saw him as a rookie manager with a lot of time needed to adjust to the league, to the football culture in England, to the refs, to the foolish media around the PL, and without any telling reinforcement last summer, to his squad, assembled by his predecessor. Instead of this, he immediately hit the ground running and managed to give us far, far more consistency than what we had last season.
Klopp is now vindicated by leaving us when he did, and we should thank him for his humility and foresight, which allowed him to leave us at the exact right moment.
