In before @SBYM
Anyway, with Wirtz pretty much done, and Frimpong also supposedly on his way, our shopping list now will surely be a new LB (Kerkez) and a reliable number nine to replace Jota and/or Darwin.
Well you are much older and need your sleep
Actually, you sleep less as you get older.
If we’re gonna break the PL transfer record on Wirtz there can’t be much left for a striker?
Why not.
There will be after we sell half our squad.
An article in the Athletic a month or so ago suggested we could probably afford to spend about £175m, if not more, without needing to needing to sell players to raise funds or worry about FFP rules.
If anywhere near accurate, that covers what the media suggest we need for Wirtz (£126m) and Frimpong (£29m), with perhaps a bit towards Kerkez’s fee (depending on how taxes and other costs get accounted for?). Not all of the Wirtz fee will be paid upfront (or Kerkez’s), so it could be said that the £175m figure covers enough to get all three signings through the door comfortably?
For other business we want to do, it’s not hard to see how we could get £100m+ from sales this summer from the various players we think the club would be open to selling (and that could have serious buyers interested). That would probably allow us to get nearly any forward we want who is available.
As someone who already has piss poor sleep this is depressing to read. Why you gotta do me like this?
If you can’t sleep, try Phenergan tablets. They’re available over the counter and were the only thing that helped me when I used to suffer from insomnia.
Leverkusen’s season has been done for a couple of weeks and actually finished last week.
Real just went ahead and paid release clause for Husjin. Weren’t we talking about doing similar (45m) for Kerkez?
Kerkez doesn’t have one I believe.
And secondary maybe Hughes being former sporting director wants to be more polite with them. After all Real Madrid are cunts and we see where it’s got Bayern acting all cunty.
No one knows what is happening. If he has one maybe it’s a given we will trigger it on Monday.
Hughes will know that but I don’t remember one being mentioned.
Is Mamardashvili and his transfer fee being counted for this season or was it accounted for last season ?
A related question is I understand that the ffp rules state that no club shouldn’t lose more than x million a season over a three year window. So where are we in the three year window ? Is it at the start of the new one? And therefore , the acquisition of Mamardashvili being accounted for the previous ffp cycle.
Seems to fit our pattern that we buy big once every three seasons unless there’s an opportunistic signing available in the other seasons. And hence part of the reason why Slot didn’t get transfers in last season. This probably fits in with the FFP rules too.
So linking this with the outgoing players. We will need to sell to buy from now on. We made sizable sales last year and have some players that can fetch decent transfer fees.
Assuming that we raise 120 to150m in outgoing sales , we still should have enough in the bank for 2 more purchases. A CB and a ST.
Mostly would depend on the sales of Nunez , Diaz , Kelleher , Morton , Tsimikas and Elliot.
Ekitike (who seems like Isak) without the injury hassles and the exorbitant transfer fee.
There’s also another defender from Bournemouth that we can look at. Zabarnayi. Should probably come affordable with some of our players(Tsimikas and Kelleher) going the other way.
And also one more thing to look at is the homegrown players rule.
Kelleher is a homegrown player and we would need to probably look at having Jaros in the squad just to ensure that the homegrown quota is there.
Frimpong arriving ensures that the loss of a homegrown player is replaced.
Elliot , Gomez , Morton are all homegrown players too.
His stats are very meh:
That isn’t to say that he is a bad player, of course, as stats only reflect what a player has done, not what he might do in a different system.
Yep pretty average there.
Looked okay to me whenever I’d seen him though.
Kerkez.
With Harvey likely going, we need a new super rude bonce in the squad.
Robbo will mentor him nicely in that as well.
I am no expert but I would buy Frimpong and Wirtz
