Who would you buy? (Part 2)

What about the home grown quota?

Not saying whether Jones should be kept or not.

I take it he isn’t very good!

@Noo_Noo - @redfanman has the perfect retort for your manu colleague, let us know how it goes :joy:

I think he has moments where he looks exciting but unfortunately the general consensus from Wolves fans is that he’s crap.

We signed one for 60m pounds. Jeremy Jacquet from Stade Rennais.
He just turned 21 recently but for that type of money I expect him to be in our top 4 defenders.

I also expect Giovanni Leoni to compete for a top 4 role. Before he went down with a serious injury he was looking quite good.

Van Dijk is on the decline but he’s still a valuable veteran to lead the line.

I’m not sure who will be his deputy. Perhaps we hold onto Gomez?

Yes he was sold.

I’m wondering if Harvey Elliot will have a role on the Iraola’s squad when he returns from loan?

I’d still be very worried without another ready to go CB.

It was a great half hour.

One of the greatest of our lives.

You have to question Hughes and Edwards. The signings seem slightly random and some slightly football manager, billy big nuts

They dont look random at all. Two forwards (one who can play off the left or deeper), an attacking mid who is considered excellent at helping break low blocks, a utility player to cover two positions on right hand side, two young CBs offering depth in a position where we have been lacking it. A keeper to either replace or cover for Alisson, and an experienced winger to cover fwds.

Nico Paz did very well for Como this past season. He is in an interesting situation with Real and Como where Real could buy him back before end June for just 8mil. And they are looking to sell him for alot more. Just interesting to see whether he would be a good option for us if we sell any of our CM?

I like the player but doesn’t he normally play further forward as a left footed attacking midfield #10 where we already have Wirtz rather than in CM?

I havent seen much of Como but I was struck a month or so ago by some of the pre-world cup analysis presenting him as the player likely to be the focal point of the Argentina side once Messi steps away so I started looking him up. What I saw was a lot of variability in how he was described, but a notable number of analyses describing him as being far more than a typical ten. Lots of the videos show him as that level of individual talent, but doing a lot of it in the midfield areas as this heat map of him last season suggests

In contrast this is Dom’s from last season

The immediate comp that came to my mind was the way Phil played under Rodgers in 13-14. If one of the issues with Wirtz last season was our inability to get the ball into him in the areas where a player like him can cause damage then Paz seems like the perfect player to do that. Watch this video and watch how quickly and effectively he gets the ball forward from deep areas (again, this of Phil feeding Sturridge and Sterling). I dont think there is necessarily a problem with playing him with Wirtz, but it would require clarity on Wirtz role (as a forward) and a commitment to allow Paz develop into deeper more authentic CM role

Yea seems a tidy player with alot of potential.

Maybe it’s been mentioned before, but apparently Schlotterbeck is out for a few months. Ligament damage. It’s been pretty quiet on centre back links anyway, but there’s one possible target off the list for this window at least.

Out for a few months! He must’ve just signed for us then.

Exactly this

Good player but we went for Wirtz already and buying another number 10 is the last thing we should do.

Number 10 or CAM, either or

Need to swerve , not for any footballing reason, but ive not long got over ken barlow singing a perry como song from years ago.
