I would be happy with Minteh because I feel like his goals are coming and with the rest of his repertoire he could become world class.
He will shoot more at our club which was half of his problem at Brighton… and probably why he scored a lot more at Feyenoord. And from there, I believe he will further develop.
I’d be a bit loathe to get another (former) Bournemouth player (shades of our Southampton dealings from yesteryear - though I don’t see us getting another Van Dijk from there - and also the doubts over sporting manager bringing in players he’s already familiar with) but Zaire-Emery would be a dream, amazing talent, already a very good player at such a young age. He’s an upgraded version of Wijnaldum in my eyes, and will only be getting better. PSG won’t be letting him go any time soon, though.
As for that Mbaye kid, I’ve been reading great stuff about him but seen just a bit from him at this World Cup. Allegedly, he could be sold because PSG are buying every winger out there.
I don’t mind Minteh either. He’s got an engine on him and the athleticism to create chances. He still lacks polish and finish but there’s definitely more upside to unleash in his game. The question is how much will Brighton demand for him? I hear 70-80m numbers bandied about, but that feels far too high for a player who hasn’t had even a single breakout season yet.
Yeah it has been seen as a big set back for him that PSG’s core 3 established themselves as the best in Europe but he is still only 20. Not only does he have plenty of time, but Ruiz is 30 and will need to be phased out sooner than later.
Might be blasphemy but the commentator saying about Stones being a free agent would anyone consider him a possible short term addition for the defence?
If he wasn’t asking for stupid wages he isn’t going to cost a transfer fee and would help out with the home grown quota. Even if he’s not always going to be a starter he might be another good example for the youger defenders we have.
If he isn’t signing again with Man City, I would definitely sign John Stones. Quality player. Prem proven. Has won the lot. Ok he only has a few years left on the clock, but he’s at an age where he can help Virg bring the younger defenders through at Liverpool. They will take over, but I think Virg needs a bit of help in the meantime.
