Same company that Trent’s brother owns yes. I think ultimately they are going to go wherever pays them the most money.
Such is life, we can’t complain really we are currently taking Leicester’s best 15 year old off them - Man City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Barcelona are trying to take ours off us.
I love Wharton;s passing too but maybe Iraola will look at how teams just walked through our midfield last season and say this ends now. We need a Fabinho type monster and if he can pass a bit then okay.
Massive difference between Doak and Rio in the postion on the pitch that they are receiving the ball and attacking their man.
Doak tended to have the space in behind to use his pace whereas Rio has it wder closer to the area with more bodies to go past as he is doubled up on defensively.
As a defender I would feel more secure with having cover close than space behind, but I would still hate to play against Rio as he is persistant, he just keeps running at you.
Rio’s progress now is to improve the end product, however, he has already shown an improvement in his decision making and is releasing the ball more.
I would be happy with that. Kroupi can play on the wing, and also up front. We need that versatility with Ekitike being out, and Isak’s tendency to miss a fair amount of football (hopefully next season we will see much more of him mind, after a mostly wasted season).
We need two wingers. Preferably one of them is versatile. Kroupi and Diomande tick the boxes for me.
Wharton´s best ability is how he passes it quickly through the lines. Exactly what we lack in midfield. Get the ball, turn, pass it through their midfield to Wirtz in a bit of space.
I think the reality about Rio is somewhere in between again. He is definitely good and enough to play regularly as part of the first team. On the other hand, it is also not wrong to say he is “not ready” because he still has to yet alot to learn what to do when he doesn’t have the ball. Great players on the flanks we have over the years like Mane, Salah, Diaz etc are as good when on the ball and also the runs they make when without. Rio on that aspect is still showing nothing much on that end. While his modus operandi is one dimensional right now, receive the ball and run at the defenders, one good thing he is showing is that he doesn’t just always cut onto his right foot and shoot, he shows a willingness to go to the byline and cross and not be so predictable.
All in all, we would do well to have another LW not to block Rio progress but to compete and improve each other for the team.
Yes, he is. How much, I’m not sure, but he’s comfortably better in last years. Probably not even fair to compare them as Trossard is higher in their hierarchy than Chiesa here.
Obviously a change of head coach and coaching staff, coupled with other factors not in our control and a bit of luck can change individual situations, but I doubt something of note can be done with Fede.
I think he leaves the club regardless who takes over here.
Totally agree on two, even three new mids if he hopefully ditch Jones. We definitely need more aggression and physicality though. I like Sangare as a DM and players like Alex Scott who run and have creativity and technique. And, yes I know he’s a blueshite, but James Garner is a very good young player who works his nuts off and is a bit of a nasty shithouse too. We need that. There’s others as well, I agree.
I don’t see us going for Kroupi with the Ekitike and Isak question still up in the air (regardless who is the coach). For now on hold, because of Hugo’s injury, but it will be a topic again…
