I don’t think Joe Gomez will do another season like this, Williams wants to leave too and we need another midfielder. I think we will need to get 5 players this summer.
Fan’s wishes always divided by around two and you get the realistic number. 2.5. Means one of the 3 players we sign next summer will flop.
Not going to lie I do feel like all the good work done getting us to the pinnacle where we recorded 90+ points two years on a trot and made 2 CL finals has seriously ground to a halt leaving us on very thin ice with an awful lot of work to do.
So two years to replace three players? Doesn’t seem impossible. Considering Thiago Silva is still a starting centre back at 35 you don’t think Van Dijk will be at least as good? So actually 2 players… And we already have Hendos replacement. Elliot, so actually one.
It’s a laughable post as he has Alisson needing replacing at 31. He’s a keeper that’s his prime.
This doomongering based on idiocy is embarrassing.
Use every transfer window would be trying to force things, nothing good comes from that. We’ll know more until the summer of 2022 what happens with those main guys who are tied until 2023. I don’t think we necessarily need to do something in January. It’s not impossible, because we actually have examples of some of our best deals in January. But mainly, it’s difficult. I expect more action next summer, with more knowledge what will happen with some of those players, what were our accomplishments this season, evolution on the pitch, other individual cases, offers, etc. All that will influence our needs.
HOW DARE YOU.
WE MUST BUY BUY BUY. ANYTHING LESS THAN PANIC IS NOT PERMITTED!
Don’t question the narrative.
I’m not FSGs biggest fan but two summer windows to bring in a couple of attackers, a couple of midfielders and a defender (if needed) is plenty. It’s not like all those players are going to drop off a cliff just because they have entered their 30s.
And actually the most important one of those issues to be addressed is replacing Klopp, the bloke FSG brought in and who is choosing to walk away.
But all those Twitter numpties care about is spending money on transfers.
That’s why I think we will cash in on Kelleher and Kellehers successor before we start thinking about Alissons replacement.
2022: Salah and Mané contracts extended, Anfield Road developments completed
2023: Klopp contract extended
2024: Alisson at his peak, Konaté being brought along by the elder statesman Virgil, Elliott hitting his stride, new additions made with calm planning over the course of two summers to refresh the spine of the team
How are some fans blind to this??
Yep he is the hardest to replace, 2 years for him to extend hopefully
Remove Fabinho and Alisson because having a 30 year old DM and a 31 year old keeper is not an issue. Remove Matip because we already bought Konate.
Salah
Mane
Firmino
Hendo
Thiago
VVD
Worst case scenario that’s two new players each summer to replace these. But in reality, chances are Hendo will age into the Milner of the squad, Van Dijk and Salah (if he signs a contract) could still be effective players even in 2024, plus we have Jota who could immediately replace Bobby/Mané and the hope will be that Elliott will be a regular in 2 or 3 seasons.
I agree if we do nothing for 2 years we’ll be in trouble, but as I said earlier in the thread, I don’t see any reason to think we won’t see at least 2 if not 3 arrivals in the summer including a forward and a midfielder.
Coincidentally, I replaced Bobby, Mané and Salah all in the same window on FIFA today. Positive net spend and all for higher rated replacements. As we all know, FIFA is almost identical to real life, so no need to panic at all i’d say.
Don’t leave us hanging. Who did you replace them with?!
Jones will replace Milner, Elliott will replace Henderson. But who will replace Thiago, and who will back up Fabinho? Thiago is more injury-prone than Henderson while only 1 year younger. Meanwhile, Fabinho already has pace issue and he will be even slower in 2024 - Morton is unlikely to deliver anything, given how he looked completely clueless against Tottenham.
I would prefer replacing either Salah or Mane, most likely the latter, as Mane has been regressing for a while, unlike Salah who still manages to improve.
Buy a ST or LW player this summer and either sell Mané or Bobby and use Salah/Jota/New guy
Buy a CM to replace one of the midfielders.
Next summer replace whichever of Mané or Bobby we didn’t sell this summer and another midfielder.
You prioritise the replacements whichever way you want, as long as you’re doing 2 each summer (or 3 if we can manage) then we should be okay.
Well rumor is that we’ll be moving on Keita while we can get something for him and Gini Wijnaldum hasn’t still been properly replaced has he?
Midfield will need a new replacement. I feel that’s why we were so strongly linked with Bissouma but of course nothing came out of it because FSG decided to be tight with the purse strings this summer.
With LFC losing ground in the PL title race, it’s becoming clear that we need a little more reinforcements. But will Klopp get backed up for an acquisition to help inject some more talent in our rotation? 8-ball says doubtful. Hell we haven’t even extended Mo Salah when it’s become quite obvious that he is this club’s talisman.
Sancho £100m (they fleeced me a bit )
Rashford on a free from Milan.
Youth player just reached OVR 87 (potential 94)
Sold Salah for £110m, £60m for Bobby, £70m for Mané
Now obviously we aren’t buying Sancho or Rashford, but get Mbappe* on a free in the summer, play him along with Jota and buy that Diaz guy for £60m or less, and it’s basically the same thing. Managing a club is that easy!
*I already have Mbappe in the game and play a 442
I would recommend you stop following the Corbally Red crew, they’re only interested in getting attention for themselves.
It was retweeted I think.
