Who would you buy?

Zubimendi would be the one I’d want. Came on for Rodri at half time in the final and you barely noticed any difference. Doubt we’re in the market for a midfielder though and would think he’d be very expensive.

He thinks he’s the coach and who we buy is someone else’s remit

We could offer Chelsea €25M for Lavia?

The blueshits won’t sell him. He’s been good for them when he came back from the injury.

Do we not have enough trouble with injury prone players?

I agree they won’t sell and certainly not to us but when did he come back from injury? He’s played 1 game - which lasted 32 minutes - in total and that game was back in December.

Yeah. He played 30 mins against Palace in January during which he suffered a reaction to the original injury that put him out again, and by mid March had been ruled out for the rest of the season.

I think there is a good chance Baj goes out on loan. It probably makes the most sense. If that is the case then there is probably room for a DM signing. If anyone else departs then there’s definitely room. Otherwise, we sure have a lot of bodies there. The focus for me has to be a CB, preferably left footed and nearly ready to claim the LFB spot, and a wide forward on the right as a Salah backup/eventual starter.

It was a great 30 mins

Why wouldn’t we be in the market for a top DM? We’ve got Endo and a kid.

There was quite a bit of buzz about Atalanta’s Ederson as a DM candidate for Liverpool. Talk has died all the way down to nothing though. Are we still interested?

Dani Olmo also is getting some notice lately with his great performance for Spain and reportedly only a 51m release clause. Could be a really dynamic addition for the midfield.

I’m really puzzled because why go through all the bother of bringing back Michael Edwards if he’s only allowed to twiddle his thumbs? He has been back with LFC since mid march so I’m sure he’s been doing his homework since then. Could this be another issue with ownership being reluctant to spend?

Well it’s a waiting game for now. Hopefully we are actively shopping now but we’ll see.

Edwards has always had a preferred mode of operation, namely that we wait for the right player rather than signing stop gaps or half measures.

I know we have stories about “Salah was the backup option to Brandt” etc but there are also stories that Edwards and the scouting team were heavily in favour of signing Salah.

Edwards coming back and Hughes coming in to follow his lead suggests to me we will go back to seeing the patient and quiet approach. I don’t think Edwards would have signed Endo, for example. In that sense the approach has its pros and cons but generally speaking it is what helped us build a team that was almost unbeatable between 2018 and 2021.

It may be a case of the club sorting any outgoings (loan or sale) and contract negotiations before finalizing plans. It also may be the case that they have their targets lined up with verbal commitments.

I think his remit is wider than LFC. Edwards is working for FSG, presumably occupied with the latent multi-club approach. That’s not to say what is happening at LFC will be outside his gaze, as clearly he will be involved.

At that point, over time I expect us to work at all levels of the market, quietly, efficiently, and with a penchant for unearthing value.

For numerous reasons - international football this summer, plus all the new people at LFC - including a new coach and coaching team and a new DOF - we have made a slow start, but it will probably be just as Hughes already said. The market will get busier as summer progresses, with a crescendo (I think that was the word he used!) in August.

Its hard to overstate how ground breaking this approach was relative to Owl, Kenny, and Rogers. And on of Klopps greatest attributes as a coach vs. those 3 was falling in line with the way of doing business.

Sounds like the perfect replacement for Thiago.

You wonder what our PSR position is too given we had a big outlay last summer.

Bunch of clubs been trading transfers but also those buying are also largely selling too. When I look at our squad there’s few I’d be looking to actively move on to boost the coffers in the same way others have been doing.

I suppose if our real CB targets haven’t already moved we could be just trying to secure moves for Sepp vdB, Willams, Phillips to free up our PSR position in order to make that big move.

Aside from those three I only really see Tsimikas and maybe Cavalho as players we might encourage to move on elsewhere. And that rumoured Barca interest in Diaz seems to have died off with them being enamored by the latest flavour of the month in Nico Williams.

Certainly feels like anything beyond a CB would necessitate some outgoings and even the choice of CB might be influenced by fees we get for those we’re happy to move on.

It’s likely also the case that we’re generally happy with what we have after doing significant work last year and while we’re working internally to come up with a backlog of options in all roles, we think it best to give the new guy a bit of time to make some evaluations of his own so they can use his feedback in figuring out which collection of targets to prioritize

I think we have maybe 4 positions they are going to be seriously considering options for, but we’re not doing all of them so we need to prioritize. Yes, Head Coach not Manager, but anyone who thinks that means his opinion is no longer important has massively over interpreted the meaning of the title change.

Really?

Do you honestly think anyone that watched the first 2 England games at the Euros is still thinking Trent in midfield is a great idea!?

He has been in the first team for 8 years, and Klopp has resisted that move that whole time for a reason, and I would lean towards Klopp knowing what to do more than a bunch or random people on the internet
