Who would you buy?

@Sweeting who do you think has more upside? Tyler Dibling of Southampton or Liam Delap of Ipswich?

Dibling got homesick at Chelsea.

RW and others, are you still convinced that we won’t need a replacement for Trent if he goes?

We will need a backup RB.

I understand Bradley had a rather poor game yesterday but people do make mistakes and then learn from it.

We’ve got a back up. We’ll need a first choice.

Dibling is the better prospect, no question.

I think the ideal is a right back we trust to be first choice but isn’t coming in with the defacto expectation to be that.

Let’s just get a good one and him and Bradley can compete for that starting spot.

Last summer has left us with a plenty of work to be done. Opportunistic signings are fine, but there were missed opportunities.

New CB still needed - Arne clearly not sold on Quansah. Potentially a 2nd depending what happens with Virg.

New DM still needed - Arne clearly not sold on Endo.

New LB needed - More faults creeping with Robbo, age catching up. Kostas whilst improved was never bought to be first choice.

New RB - Trent off to Madrid. I like Bradley and would have no issue if we persisted with him as first choice but would still need someone into rotate him with.

New RW - Depending what happens with Mo.

New CF - As much as I love Darwin, he’s struggling in this set up and Jota is not someone you can rely on.

To date Arne hasn’t be willing to dive into the academy, I suppose most have been sold or loaned out anyway…I wanna say it’s not looking good although renewing Mo and Virg would instantly solve a lot of concerns.

I think this is a overly pessimistic take.

This is a bit of a wild take. Quansah is only a kid and he hasn’t had much chance since Ibou came in and totally bossed it.

The decision to buy a centre back probably rest on whether Gomez leaves or not. Otherwise (presuming Virgil signs, which looks likely) the four we have are perfectly fine.

The clamour for a new DM was really before Gravenberch had really shown his mettle there. I think had we bought a new DM we wouldn’t have got the Gravenberch we subsequently got.

I think there is an assumption that Slot doesn’t rate Endo, but he still turns to him to shore up a midfield in the late stages of a game, as he did yesterday.

Anyway, I’m not sure a DM is quite the priory it felt like over summer with Gravenberch, Jones and Mac Allister all performing really well there, and there is still Bajcetic out on loan who many of us have high hopes for.

Wouldn’t say to another dip on Zubimendi in January, but I think it’s a bit unlikely.

This would be my priority. In January if possible. Robbo looks like he is the midst of doing ‘a Fabinho’.

Both of these might be rendered moot if contracts get sorted. (Which I’d say I’d likely with Mo, less likely with Trent)

Darwin, I suspect has the season and then a decision will be made. If the club has other business to do, then it might get deprioritised.

I don’t know about Jota. I think he’s great, but in amongst his so called injury fragility, there is also a bad luck as well. He seems to just suffer enormously from big lads falling on him. That isn’t something that you can really address. You can’t recruit against that metric.

Kit change cures all

I think that there are no issues with the way Slot is using the academy. Quansah is a young lad playing in a position that is notoriously difficult for young players. I believe he’ll come good, I doubt that club would have extended his contract had all parties involved not wanted to do it. His time will come, though I hope Van Dijk and Konate continue in this vein of form (minus the Southampton game) for a long, long time.

By the way, I really hope Danns can overcome his injury issues and continue where he left off. The more I see from Nunez, the more I’m convinced he’s playing his final season at Liverpool. Also, considering that Jota is extremely prone to injuries, I wonder if the club are already envisioning a scenario where they sell Nunez next summer, buy a new centre forward, retain Jota for one more season after that, and then Danns take his place in the squad if he proves himself over the next year and a half.

Extending with Quansah, considering the type of deal he was probably on before, looking at the number of games he played last season when he basically became a full senior member, is pretty standard and also a way to protect/raise his value. So I don’t think it has much to do how we view his ceiling.

Not sure how much more we could use from the academy since most of the more promising players/those further ahead in their development are out on loan, as would Danns have been if not for his injury.

Yeah get rid of them all. We’d be 18 points clear if our squad wasn’t shite

Hey! Don’t have a pop at me, I’m not the one stalling over new contracts and leaving our squad players on the bench every week to get 2 minutes game time as if to send some sort of message.

Eventually Arne will want to start to build his own team, I’m just pointing out the areas that could come in the next 12-18 months based on our predicament. If you’re confident we’ll hang on to Trent Virg Mo Endo Nunez Quansah/Gomez etc then great.

Want to say one thing on Marmoush

Lots of very good players left Frankfurt in recent years. Kamada, Lindström, Rebic, Jovic, Haller, Kostic, André Silva, Kolo Muani. Not one of them was able to replicate their quality for their next club.

Looking at the potential shortcomings with the defense(Konate injured, Bradley injured). Especially for this upcoming matches till end of January.

Do we get a case wherein we would have to get some experienced transfers. Like a Klavan for instance ?

I suppose Endo can fill in at a crunch as a CB but do we want to go there ?

We have three CBs now and one of them is a potential substitute RB too.

I wouldn’t mind a low cost CB option or two who could come in , do a role in the league Cup / fa cup matches and be there and thereabouts in the squad for maybe 2 years. I’m not saying we call back Nat Phillips. But we are having to treat our CBs really carefully now.
