Who would you buy?

If we were getting rid of two of our forwards (other than whatever happens with Salah), for some reason, then Nunez and Jota would be my choices. I think you could potentially bring in one guy to replace those two and get the same or even better output.

Diaz is now being linked, by an entirely unreliable source, to Atleti and we are asking for 70m Euros, supposedly. If that turned out to be real, then I think we should take the money and, as has been pointed out, we don’t need to buy a replacement. The money would go into the Isak fund.

Liverpool could be open to letting Colombia winger Luis Diaz leave for around 70m euro (£57.7m) in the summer, with Atletico Madrid keen on the 28-year-old. (Fichajes - in Spanish)

Not enough in my opinion and why would he want to go to that bunch of thugs?
I can get the Real/Barcelona thing for South American players, but that lot?
He’d be better off staying with us.

Many good players are going to Atletico, so there’s that also. Plus, they like hard workers and wingers with around 10 goals per season on average like Diaz.

More chance of winning stuff with us!

Atletico’s president said yesterday that they do not plan to sign any strikers this summer. They do have pretty good squad depth this season, it must be said. But sometimes their in/out transfers can surprise. If Diaz goes there, I guess he’d be in competition with Lino.

It’s been great to have so much quality in depth to call upon that i worry that reducing it will have a much bigger impact than might be appreciated.

Our squad size is really good, we are one of the rare top sides in Europe where you can easily see: okay, from top to bottom, there are two players per position.

We have the odd case like Morton, but it’s not a big deal. Plus, not many players out on loan. It’s a situation easier to manage, keep players motivated, put structured top wages in world football where it needs to be put and maximize quality and competitiveness on the pitch.

Of course, some players will leave. Either ones who’s contracts are expiring or players we want to move on/upgrade on.

I was curious to see how Slot would manage a PL side battling in 4 competitions, more rotation than he’s ever used to, etc. But it seems like he knows what he’s doing. I’ve no doubt this is more or less the squad size he wants to keep. We need it to be competitive on multiple fronts.

Hopefully the quality (and mentality) will at least remain the same. That might depend on who exactly leaves, as we have some of our very best players in doubts.

I wouldn’t want to be in competition with flooring.

Pedro for me…He’s a real cutting edge player.
Uses his talent, technical skills and workmate to advance the team game

Also a bit of a hot head.

Just charged half the length of the pitch to confront Gordon as he was getting sent off.

Does look like Gordon now misses the league cup final.

Really? I haven’t seen him enough but when I have he seems really lazy

Lazy? Probably has the highest work rate of any attacking player in the Brighton team

Get him in!

Hope this is the only time we see Gordon in the red of LFC

Disappears too often when Brighton needs him the most. I like quite a bit of Brighton players but if I were to have a choice of Brighton players , it would be someone like Mitoma or baleba

I think he’ll wipe the floor with him.

We left recruitment in the hands of a stubbly adolescent?

I’ve been looking at Ekitike a bit more, as an alternate to Isak. He seems a similar sort of player, but a couple of years back in his development/experience. His injury record is better too.

Tall, very fast, can score a variety of goals. Isak is better at the moment, but that might not be the case in future, as Ekitike has more development to come. With Slot’s ability to develop players, he might just get the nod.

Let’s imagine a world where Newcastle won’t budge for anything less than 120M but Ekitike can be bought for around half that amount?

It might make sense, especially as we have other business to do in the summer.
