Who would you buy?

We have one and for some reason everyone wants to sell him :joy:

If you are talking Diaz, I do think he dribbles at pace well it is when he stops and has to twist and turn or to chop back that for me he struggles with, Chiesa seems the best one, from the small amounts I have seen, at shaping up one way then chopping back quickly

Ekitike scored a Hattrick against England U21 tonight.

I didn’t realize he was still young enough to be playing at the age group

I have never seen Ekitike play. But how many next big striker things turn out well? Hopefully our data guys have the insight.

Nunez :kissing_heart:

Not everyone - only I! :joy: Damn, Mane really distorted my expectations of wingers, and I’m genuinely scared about what will happen when club have to replace Salah… I’m dreading another “Keita to take up Gerrard’s legendary no. 8 shirt” scenario.

That’s having unrealistic expectations, pure and simple. Nobody is going to replace an all-time great just like that.

Well, if you have no expectations, you can’t be disappointed, right? I’m not expecting Liverpool to sign a player with Salah’s numbers and longevity, that’s impossible. What I would like to see is that burden of goals and assists shared throughout the squad - and I don’t see Luiz, Nunez and Jota being able to share it.

I’m not including Gakpo yet because he’s shown improvement this season and I hope he will only get better, even if he doesn’t exactly make that left wing role his own. As for Chiesa… His attitude and behaviour have been so great that I really, really want him to do well at Liverpool but that might be a big ask looking at how this season has panned out for him.

Hughes and Slot will have to get really creative this summer, that much I know.

It’s very unlikely we will see that as our frontline next season. I would also be willing to speculate that we will see a higher G+A return for Diaz if we strengthen our left back and centre forward roles.

I’d wager a guess that two out of these three won’t be at Liverpool come the end of the summer window, though I agree on your second point. A rebuild of attack incoming, like the midfield was rebuilt in 2023?

Given that there’s still aaaaaaages until our next game, I thought I’d kill some time creating a poll to gauge TAN’s opinions on who should be our next left-back.

Both of the above players have frequently been linked with us in rumours over the last year or so; both are young (Kerkez is 21 and Aït-Nouri 23) and Transfermarkt has them both valued at €35m. With Robbo unable to go on for ever, and Kostas not quite good enough to take over as the regular starter, who should be our new left-back?

If you voted “Other”, please explain who and why.

Thanks.

Kerkez. I think he is nailed on as a signing. Based on absolutely nothing though…

Let me go one further then - I usually have no expectations and still manage to get disappointed!

Voted Kerkez through familiarity - Ait-Nouri is insane defensively when he feels like it but I’ve never been too convinced of his attacking qualities (it might be something to do with the way Wolves are set up, though).

As for other options that I’ve seen, Robinson is a ready-made player who’d suit Liverpool like a glove but he’d be extremely expensive and probably has no more than five seasons left at the highest level.

We aren’t getting him.

Kerkez. Strong, fast, engine for days to get up and down that flank. From watching him a bit more since we were linked, he can cross it well and is starting to get some assists too.

The price will make us wince. I don’t think it will be the transfer market valuation. My best guess is 45M. We will wince a bit at that much for a fullback. Bournemouth fans will complain that they didn’t get 55M which is what Cucurella went to Chelsea for, 3 years ago.

So with both sides slightly unhappy over the fee, 45M will be about right, in the current climate.

Edit
If they want Kelleher, and there are links, we could arguably help both sides a bit with PSR by upping the fee for both players. But not much, as it will still need to be credible. E.g. 55M for Kerkez, 30M for Kelleher.
