Who would you buy?

That’s a wet dream summer

Yeah add in a RB and I’d be excited with that even assuming we lose Virg, Mo and Trent.

Did you read the piece where he says “keeping Virg, Mo and Trent”…

I think the real difficulty when it comes to speculating about this summer’s business is that we’ve still no real idea whether Slot would properly use a bigger squad if it were all players he trusted or whether, as we’ve mostly seen this season, he’ll just get what he considers to be his best 11 out as much as physically possible in the premier league and champions league.

Like however much we all love Huijsen, if VVD signs a new deal and the boss wants to use him as much next season as he did this season, it becomes a bit difficult to justify.

I’m not sure that is the biggest difficulty here. We can see that Arne would be willing to use other players if he felt they were more suited to the way he wants to play. It might be more a case that we have several important issues happening all at the same time.

For example, not knowing whether we will lose, Trent, Virgil or Mo this summer is a major factor on knowing what business we will need to do, as is not knowing how much cash the club will have to spend whether they sign or not.

Will the club have the appetite to go into the season with the likelihood of losing players like Diaz and Konate the following summer for nothing?

We already have a somewhat full squad, so will the club only choose to move for a player if we are able to move on players currently here first (For example will we hold off from buying a left back if Robertson and Tsimakas do not generate any interest or refuse to leave, will we move for a forward if the same thing happens with Darwin and/ or Jota?).

How does Arne feel about Chiesa - is he someone he believes can play a big role next season or would he prefer to move him on?

So many unknowns around the whole thing. Probably more than I can remember at any particular time before.

It is not beyond the bounds of possibility that both the attack and the defence see a significant overhaul this summer, similar to all the changes we made in the midfield not too long ago.

It’s a bit of a mad one. We could be Premier League Champions and seeing half the side depart and half a new team come in. Scenes.

I’m a fan to see my team do well and win trophies.

I leave Chelsea and Man Utd to battle for the August trophy.

I’m only giving my list after the season is done.

First win the damn league.

I bet Messrs Hughes, Slot, et al can’t wait.

Yep. They are all standing in line begging me to make @Nikola 's predictions stop.

They need to stop @Nikola setting up any transfer threads

So many players on the probable exit list:

You missed out:

Konaté
Quansah
Bradley
Mac Allister
Gravenberch
Szoboszlai
Curtis only-gets-into-the-team-because-he’s-Scouse Jones
Gakpo
Elliott
Jota
Chiesa

I think precisely because so many these are likely is why despite what reservations some have about him (I dont get it), Diaz wont be part of that group. And Gomez’s future might be tied up with Virgil’s where we’re more likely to keep him if we cannot resign Virgil.

Mate, I really don’t understand your sarcasm at times - nothing @Iftikhar said provoked such a response. He named three players whose contracts are ending in a few months (one of which is all but confirmed to leave the club) and six more who are being heavily linked with departures by reliable journalists.

Some probables there but a bunch of maybes too. Zero percent chance they all go though.

It wasn’t targeted at him personally (sorry @Iftikhar!). It’s just the sentiment that we will see so much turnover when that has by far been the exception rather than the norm, and was pretty much when we were building the 2017-18 side.

The team we have now is not one that needs or is likely to benefit from an overhaul. There are areas we need to improve, but nothing that justifies the extensive renovation that some seem to see (or want).

I think Feyenord had a significant turnover of players when Slot was there, so I wonder if the way he handled that overhaul played a part in club’s decision to sign him as Klopp’s successor. Yeah, different league and circumstances but still…

I think we’re in for an overhaul, though, but maybe our definitions of the word differ. There’s a new goalie incoming (with a view to becoming new no. 1 in due course), two starting fullbacks are needed, a starting centre forward, quite likely another midfielder and a centre back… In my view, that constitutes an overhaul, though I’m not sure it can be done in one summer. And that’s without taking Van Dijk and Salah into account.

That counts to em as business already done, although I’d be wary about assuming that he will keep that status just because of the fee.

Why? Even if you take your pessimistic assumption that Alexander-Arnold is leaving, Bradley is more than good enough, unless I’ve missed something?

That’s on the wishlist of fans, but it remains to be seen if it’ll be the case.

Why? Midfielder doesn’t make sense to me considering we have Elliott and Bajčetić (who by all accounts is doing well in Spain?), not to mention McConnell whom Arne has namechecked and supposedly wanted to have remain with us instead of go out on loan. Endō hasn’t made any noises about wanting to leave either. Unless we have a specific target that we’d want, I don’t see why the club would want to go for that.

I do think I’m the anti-you though, and I tend to be a lot more blasé about what hapepns. I’ve never seen transfers as our obstacle in all these years.
