World Cup every two years

I’m glad a prominent player has come out and said this but it also demonstrates the total impotence of FifPro.

World cup every 2 years would be crazy, personally I look forward to it now and the European championships but we don’t need it more often.

If it’s such a talking point it’s probably going to happen

Report out today that the move would cost european club football 8 billion euros a season.

If someone was trying to coax a second attempt at the super league you could barely have found a more provocative idea designed to force the hands of the club owners.

If Pochettino lands at Old Toilet and maybe one or two more managers of decent ilk…
the super league is almost being formed under the guise of the Premier League banner…
Just without the money flow that goes with it

Super league is far less about concertation of competition as it is about control. Simply bringing better managers and players into the league actually gets the english clubs further away from what they want (more competition to qualify for the CL).

  • Fuck off Wenger.

Lost all my respect for him since this idea of a World Cup every two years.

The numbers there are stark. FIFA members can add an extra 3.3 billion of revenue per four year cycle, at the expense of European footy with a low of -2.6 billion to a high of - 6.8.

What was wrong with the super league idea again? Why exactly should national associations be regulators?

to be fair to Wenger, his idea is at least a complete reworking of the entire global calendar in which this is one change. It’s a dumb idea in its totality, but I suspect the only way we solve the currently unworkable conflict between FIFA and the national associations/clubs is that sort blue sky “rip it up and build from scratch” thinking (cough super league cough).

The problem is that there isn’t really a conflict between FIFA and the national associations, there is just a continuation of the North-South conflict that goes all the way back to the Rous-Havelange division, with the partial exception that the South Americans are not siding with the broader FIFA ‘south’.

Infantino just solved all the problems in the world.

Why isn’t this guy in a mental institute?

Sounds like he should front a rather lunatic fringe of a political party, those belong on both sides of the political divide may I add.

FFS that is laughable.

Next, day-night games. Where the first half is played in day in europe then the second half at night in South America.

Infantino is fucking dangerous. He’ll destroy the whole thing if left unchecked.

On top of the other obvious issues, having teams competing during the winter and then in the dead of summer is as idiotic as it gets. Or maybe he’s planning to disrupt the entrire football calendar again.
