Yankuba Minteh (RW) Brighton

Out of the left field but coming straight from Ornstein and saying we’ve actively bid already rather than “are interested in” so figured worth a thread. If mods disagree feel free to remove.

Ornstein saying we’ve had a 50m bid rejected for Minteh. Possible alternative to Mbaye, or maybe Barcola? Either way, we’re trying something

If we’ve bid for him despite his injury, it indicates our interest deserves a thread. I’ll wonder if we’re bidding for him as a means to drive down Barcola’s price, or as an alternative (to him and/or Mbaye).

As per usual this window “the player is interested, but the clubs have yet to agree a fee”

What kind of injury does he have?

Calf injury, 8 weeks

Injury history on the whole isnt bad at all. Transfermarkt has his injury down as a foot injury rather than a calf one

If we are, I feel like it’s a tactic we should have been employing weeks ago

Our tendency is to bid if we think a deal is possible. I just don’t know what the gap is with Brighton’s valuation.

Or as a “I really want to be put on gardening leave and not have to work out the rest of my contract” style move.

If Gakpo and Chiesa/Elliott go it could be a case of we want all three. Simple fact is our strategy at the moment is not clear, beyond the basic tagline of “we want wingers”

Well, I guess we’re just working our way through our list now. Does anyone remember who else was on it? We’ve known for three weeks that the Mbaye/Barcola package is simply too expensive for us.

Isn’t the assumption that Hughes is leaving after this window, anyway?

Mbappe? Dont make me revisit the “nike can pay for it…amortization” theory

Probably an alternative to Mbaye, if we can’t agree on a fee with PSG.

Buying a player who’s out for that amount of time though. Seems weird. I’d rather have the guy who isn’t injured at the moment.

I think he took a heavy tackle in a preseason game, I don’t think it’s anything to be concerned about in the longer term.

Right but the joke is why work out the last 2 weeks of your contract when you can do something stupid enough that makes your bosses just tell you to go home

What are we doing!? Well it’s a bid for someone at least :person_shrugging:

Oh :joy: that wasn’t me; my tablet decided to do that. And pleeeease don’t start speculating again—it has absolutely nothing to do with my drinking habits.
