I think you know what I was saying and it wasn´t that.
Clearly some younger players are productive in the numbers and considerably more so than Minteh, especially with a more balanced comparison. Whether they are ´elite´ or not, he´s arguably lagging behind them from a numbers perspective.
Yeah sure, and insulting someone for his opinion without offering anything on the player discussed is the broadest perspective possible.
Not sure what my post or Minteh has to do with Mane, but as far as I remember the concerns of some people was that he was inconsistent, not that he lacked end product or had bad decision making.
You were saying that Estevao and Rayan had better stats and I agree - these two potentially world class players had better stats last season.
However it should also be noted that Minteh himself had a better output the year before last, as a 20 year old, managing 6 goals and 4 assists in 1800 minutes - outperforming his xG in the process which shows he must have had above average finishing that year.
I don´t value xG as a stat but yes he was more productive on the numbers and I think his previous season would be a reasonable output if we were looking at a player of that age.
I guess from our side we would want to understand whether he regressed/stalled or if something changed in the team, or whether he was just ´unlucky´ and it´s regular variation. Or if the previous season was an outlier of course but he had okay numbers in the Dutch league.
His role certainly changed. In 24/25 he ranked highly for runs into the penalty area but in 25/26 he suddenly made the 2nd most crosses per 90 of all wingers in the league.

I didn’t insult you, I don’t know you, so I don’t have an opinion on you personally. I pointed out that your assessment was terribly biased, which is true. I didn’t offer anything because you appear so thoroughly invested in your opinion that I can’t envisage a scenario where you would be interested in another perspective. There are plenty of resources that paint Minteh in a favourable light but you seem to have either dismissed or ignored them. There’s no point trying to convince someone who is as entrench as you appear to be.
Mane’s decision making, attitude, output and consistecy were all areas of unfounded concern.

Does that mean runs without the ball to get onto a pass or cross? Or running with the ball into the box? Be it from the side or front.
I assume Mitoma being out affected it somewhat
Dribbles into box. He was also 6th for touches in opposition penalty area.
Last season he spent much more time crossing to the box than running into it.

I think maybe partly as he played on the left more.
On the right he wants to cut in on his left but on the left his instinct is to go to his left and away from goal to cross.

I think it´s impossible (more or less) to quantify that quality or opportunity value of a chance, even aggregated.
So many factors go into it. Your balance, the exact defender pressure, ball bounce and spin, your exact angle to the goal etc etc. And, quantifying those factors is almost impossible,
Maybe it correlates but Hull just went up despite being 22nd in xG or something.
Although Estevao and Rayan had better output both took significantly more shots per game than Minteh (1.65).
Estevao took nearly twice as many (2.95 pg) *underperformed xG significantly
Rayan took more than 30% more (2.20 pg) *overperformed xG significantly
He did a bunch of in possession stuff better like dribbles, crosses, carries better.
This is in addition to what he offers out of possession.
Interesting. I would say decent ones capture a reasonable amount of the variation based on the fact that it measures an event happening 100 times.
But events are individual events and my problem is with how they categorise them together.
I think the factors are so hard to measure it makes them so difficult to compare to other chance.
A 5 yard bouncing chance fizzed in quickly or slightly behind you can be much harder than a 20 yard finish with no pressure, but it´s hard to quantify all of those factors.
Football stats in general are tricky. For example carrying the ball 30 yards sounds good but not if there was a better pass on or you head into a non threatening area.

It´s basically a measure of shot quality, and a dubious one. Not chance difficulty.
To capture the technical difficulty of the finish after the ball is struck, analysts use Post-Shot xG (PSxG).
