West Ham fan here. Just had to temporarily sign up to say thoughts with the families & friends of both Diogo & Andre Silva and with all those associated with Liverpool FC. A wonderful player and an awful, awful tragedy.

Wasn’t sure if I should post this but on this day ten years ago my older brother decided to end his life.
Diogo’s wife had to identify the body, which had been burnt beyond recognition and as someone who’s father had to identify the body which was run over by a train I know exactly how she feels and that’s breaks my heart again.

Such sad news,
taken away so early in his life,
As a footballer, Jota wasn’t blessed with the greatest speed or skill and wasnt the tallest of forwards in league full of imposing centre backs
and he was never going to be considered as one of our greatest players,
but that didnt matter as he brought something else to the team,
a will to win, determination, the knack of been in the right place at the right time and scoring an important goal,
I’ll miss his ability to run with the ball, squirming past defender after defender then firing the ball home, running to the corner flag with that big smile on face,
and he was a surprisingly good header of the ball for a guy who wasnt the tallest and his finishing was pretty good
65 goals in 182 appearances, 1 goal every 3 games roughly (and many of them been match winning goals) is proof of his finishing abilities
The greatest pity in this though is he only recently got married and would have been looking forward to spending the rest of his life with his wife and 3 kids
but they will never feel his touch or hugs again, nor will they feel his
my thoughts and prayers go out to his family at this sad time

I was in disbelief when i read this tragic news. Felt like a punch in the guts. I can only imagine how difficult this must be for his family. Rest in peace Diogo, YNWA.

The Zamora Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences has completed the autopsy of the bodies of Liverpool footballer Diogo Jota and his brother, also a Portuguese footballer, André Filipo, who died this morning in a traffic accident on the Rías Bajas Highway (A-52) in Cernadilla (Zamora). Their bodies will be repatriated to Portugal. EFE
Lisbon, July 3 (EFE).-The funeral for Portuguese footballers Diogo Jota and his brother André Silva will take place on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. local time (one hour less than GMT) in Gondomar, where the Portuguese striker began his football career, according to media reports.
The ceremony will take place in Gondomar’s mother church, a source in the municipal chamber confirmed to Lusa, with the remains later being transferred to the city cemetery.
The day before, on Friday, the wake will be held in the church’s mortuary chapel, beginning at 4:00 a.m. local time.
